A B36 PLT; WHILE XING A RWY AT DAL; WAS UNABLE TO SEE EXITING TXWY SIGN; TURNED ONTO RWY.

Narrative

I AM WRITING YOU ABOUT TXWY SIGNAGE THAT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE. THE SIGNAGE IS AT DAL. MY CONCERN IS THAT IF A PLT OF A LOW COCKPIT ACFT IS TOLD TO EXPEDITE ACROSS A RWY TO THE OTHER SIDE; THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THE ENTRANCE TO THE CORRESPONDING TXWY ON THE OTHER SIDE. MY CONCERN COMES ABOUT BECAUSE WHEN I WAS TAXIING; I WAS CLRED TO CROSS RWY 31R AT TXWY A1 AND I COULD NOT SEE THE ENTRANCE ON THE OTHER SIDE. I THOUGHT IT VEERED AT A 45 DEG ANGLE TO THE R SO I TURNED ONTO THE RWY AND THEN REALIZED IT WAS STRAIGHT AHEAD. I MADE A 180 DEG AND TURNED ONTO IT. THERE WAS NO TFC LNDG SO IT WAS NOT A BIG DEAL. IF SOMEONE WAS IN A HURRY TO CROSS AND THERE WAS TFC ON SHORT FINAL AND THE GND TFC TURNED ONTO THE RWY THERE COULD BE A MAJOR PROB. I BELIEVE THERE ARE MANY TXWYS LIKE THIS AND I BELIEVE IT IS A PROB FOR LOW COCKPIT ACFT. I BELIEVE THE PROB CAN BE ALLEVIATED BY USING THE BLOWN UP ARPT DIAGRAM; AND I WILL MAKE SURE I USE IT FROM NOW ON. I HOPE THIS CAN PREVENT OTHERS FROM LEARNING THE WAY I DID. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: A DAL TWR SPECIALIST REVEALED THAT; TXWYS A1 AND B1 HAVE SIGNS DEPICTING THEIR RESPECTIVE LOCATION.
