Narrative
THIS WHEELS UP LNDG OCCURRED DURING THE MORNING OF THE SECOND DAY OF A BFR. THE FIRST DAY WAS COMPRISED OF MAPS READING; REGS REVIEW; AIRSPACE FAMILIARITY AND ACTUAL FLT INTO BOULDER 1V5; JEFFCO BJC; CENTENNIAL APA; TRI COUNTY 48V AND LONGMONT 2V2 ARPTS FOR RADIO PROCS AND NORMAL AND XWIND LNDGS. THE SECOND DAY STARTED AT LONGMONT 2V2 RWY 29 AND FIELD ELEVATION 5050 FT. THE PLAN WAS TO REVIEW EMER PROCS IN THE C177RG POH. WE LEFT LONGMONT 2V2 AT XA00. WE CLBED TO 8000 FT; HEADED 041 DEGS ON THE 221 DEG RADIAL FROM GLL TOWARD GREELEY WELD COUNTY ARPT GXY. WE WERE SIMULATING A WING FIRE EMER (R WING) WITH FORWARD SIP TO RWY 34 GXY. WE HAVE ANNOUNCED SIMULATING EMER AND WE GOT DISTR WITH THE TFC AT OUR ALT AND VICINITY OF THE ARPT. AS WE WERE LOOKING FOR THE TFC WE CONTINUED APCH TO RWY 34. THERE WAS ALSO TURB AND WIND 10 DEGS GUSTING TO 20 DEGS L QUARTERING HEADWIND. WE HELD 13 INCHES MANIFOLD PRESSURE AND 2500 RPM TO ABOUT 500 FT AGL; AT WHICH TIME PWR WAS PULLED TO IDLE. THE LNDG GEAR WARNING HORN WAS NOT AUDIBLE. A WHEELS UP LNDG WAS PERFORMED WITH VERY LITTLE VISUAL DAMAGE TO THE ACFT AND NO INJURIES TO PLT AND THE PAX. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT HE TOTALLY FORGOT TO USE HIS CHKLIST DUE TO THE ATTEMPT TO SIDESLIP THE ACFT DOWN TO THE RWY AND THE CONCERN FOR WHERE THE RPTED TFC WAS DURING HIS DSCNT. THE INSTRUCTOR PLT GIVING HIM HIS REVIEW KEPT INSTRUCTING HIM TO AIM FOR THE RWY NUMBERS AND DID NOT KNOW THAT HE HAD FORGOTTEN THE GEAR UNTIL SLIDING ON THE RWY. HE DID NOT REMEMBER HEARING THE GEAR WARNING HORN. THE RPTR FURTHER STATED THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 700 HRS OF FLYING THIS ACFT THAT HE DID NOT REFER TO THE CHKLIST PRIOR TO LNDG. THE ACFT DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE BELLY SKIN RIVETS HEADS WORN OFF; ANTENNAS BROKEN OFF; PROP TIPS CURLED; ENG EXHAUST STACK WORN OFF AND ENG INTERNAL PARTS REQUIRE EXAMINATION FOR DAMAGE DUE TO THE PROP STOPPAGE.
