Narrative
AFTER MUCH CONFUSION AT GATE OVER PAX COUNT WE PUSHED BACK AND WERE HOLDING SHORT OF TXWY A FROM GATE ALLEYWAY. GND CTL GAVE US CLRNC TO TAXI TO RWY 9L VIA TXWYS A AND J. LOOKING AT WT AND BAL INFO WE DID NOT HAVE TKOF NUMBERS FOR THIS RWY. UPON TELLING GND CTL OF THIS THEY HURRIEDLY ASKED (TOLD) US TO TAXI TO RWY 9L AND LET THEM KNOW WHEN WE HAD RECEIVED OUR NEW NUMBERS FROM COMPANY. AS I BURIED MY HEAD IN THE ACARS TRYING TO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE DISPATCHER REQUESTING THE NEW NUMBERS; THE CAPT STARTED TAXIING. UNFORTUNATELY; HE TAXIED L OUT OF THE ALLEYWAY AND SHOULD HAVE GONE R. I WAS OF NO HELP AS I WAS HURRIEDLY TYPING ON THE ACARS. UPON APCHING RWY 32R THE CAPT ASKED ME TO CONFIRM WITH GND WE HAD CLRNC TO CROSS RWY 32R. AT THIS TIME THE CAPT; GND CTL AND ME ALL CAME TO REALIZE WE HAD TURNED THE WRONG WAY. AFTER A SHORT DISCUSSION WITH GND WE ELECTED TO TAKE OFF ON RWY 32R SINCE WE HAD NUMBERS FOR IT AND IT WAS OF NO DIFFERENCE TO ORD THAT EARLY IN THE MORNING. INFO LEADING UP TO THIS: ATIS WAS STILL CALLING RWY 9L CLOSED FOR QUIET HRS RESTRS; COMPANY DIDN'T GIVE US NUMBERS FOR A 'CLOSED' RWY. WE ALLOWED GND TO RUSH US TO TAXI. I WENT HEADS DOWN AND DIDN'T BACK THE CAPT UP. EARLY MORNING RPT WITH NO BREAKFAST. FIRST TIME IN YRS AT ORD FOR BOTH PLTS. THE GND CTLR STATED RWY 9L AND THE CAPT JUST GOT STUCK IN HIS HEAD THE L PART. THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT AFFECTED BY OUR MISTAKE AND OTHER THAN THE EMBARRASSMENT; THERE SEEMED TO BE NO CONCERN BY GND. MANY LESSONS LEARNED THOUGH!
