A DC9 CREW; IN POS AT FCA; WITNESSED ANOTHER ACFT LAND OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON THE SAME RWY.
Narrative
ON DEP FROM FCA; MT; WE WERE TOLD BY ZLC TO HOLD FOR IFR RELEASE. A CESSNA WAS DOING AN ILS TO RWY 2 IN KALISPELL. THE VFR TFC WAS USING RWY 20. WE TAXIED OUT TO RWY 20 AND HELD FOR RELEASE. THE CESSNA CANCELED IFR WHILE INBOUND TO KALISPELL. CTR THEN RELEASED US FOR TKOF AND CAUTIONED US TO THE INBOUND VFR TFC. DURING THAT TIME THERE WERE SEVERAL CALLS ON CTAF AND AN ACFT WAS ON A L BASE TO RWY 20. WE LOOKED FOR TFC S OF THE ARPT AND SAW NO ONE. WE THEN ANNOUNCED OUR INTENTIONS TO DEPART RWY 20 TO THE SE. NO ONE SAID ANYTHING. THEN WE TAXIED INTO POS ON RWY 20 AND I SAW A LIGHT IN THE DISTANCE WHICH LOOKED LIKE A LNDG LIGHT. THE FO REPEATED OUR INTENTIONS AND SAID; 'WE ARE ON THE RWY; DO YOU SEE US?' THE ACFT REPLIED; 'I SEE YA' AND CONTINUED TO LAND ON RWY 2 OPPOSING US. THE TIME FACTOR LEFT US NO WAY TO TAXI CLR WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN TO TAXI DOWN THE RWY 3000 FT TO A TURNOFF CLOSING THE DISTANCE TO THE LNDG CESSNA. WE STAYED IN POS IN DISBELIEF THE PLT WOULD LAND IN FRONT OF US; KNOWING WE WERE ON THE RWY. WE HAD MADE OUR INTENTIONS ABUNDANTLY CLR TO ALL TFC ON CTAF. WE FELT THE VFR INBOUND CESSNA WAS ENTERING A L DOWNWIND WITH OTHER TFC IN THE PATTERN. HE GAVE NO RESPONSE TO OUR INTENTIONS. I TURNED ALL OUR LNDG LIGHTS ON TO GIVE THIS PLT A CLR PICTURE. HE LOOKED LIKE HE LANDED WITHIN THE FIRST 3000 FT OF RWY 2 AND TURNED OFF ON TXWY C. WHILE I DID NOT FEEL HE WOULD COME CLOSE TO US; THE FACT IS HE LANDED ON AN OCCUPIED RWY. WE HAD APPROX 5000 FT OF DISTANCE BTWN US. I DID NOT GET HIS ACFT NUMBER AND HE NEVER GAVE IT; UNFORTUNATELY. HOPEFULLY; FCA (GLACIER) TWR WILL OPEN SOON.
