Narrative
WX WAS BELOW FREEZING FOR MORNING DEP. NORMALLY; ACFT IS SHOT WITH TYPE I FLUID AT GATE BEFORE CREW ARR. ACFT WAS BOARDED AT GATE OF ANOTHER ACR; AS ALL OURS WERE FULL. DEICE WAS TO BE DONE AFTER PUSHBACK AND TAXI TO OUR GATE AREA. AFTER START AND TAXI; ACFT WAS CONFIGURED AND DEICED (ONLY THIN FROST). GND CREW MADE NO ATTEMPT TO TALK TO US ON INTERPHONE. WE DID NOT GET ANY OF THE NORMAL COMS PER A 'NORMAL' DEICE. WE DISMISSED THE LACK OF COM. WE KNEW TYPE OF FLUID AND START TIME AS VISUALLY OBSERVED. SOP IS FOR GND CREW TO COMMUNICATE -- TYPE OF FLUID; TIME STARTED; AND ACFT CLEAN BEFORE DEP. I WAS LULLED INTO COMPLACENCY BY ATTITUDE OF GND CREW AND FACT THAT WHEN ACFT IS DEICED BEFORE CREW ARR; USUALLY DON'T GET OR SEE THAT INFO. APCHED THIS PROC AS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE OUR ARR AND 'REMOVED' MYSELF FROM PROCESS. UPON INVESTIGATION; FOUND THAT RAMP SHOULD ALWAYS GIVE DEICE INFO TO CREW EVEN IF DONE BEFORE CREW'S ARR. WAYS TO AVOID: ALWAYS APCH DEICE IN SAME MANNER. SOP IS SOP -- EVEN IF NO PRECIP AND ONLY LIGHT FROST ON ACFT. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT LEVEL OF CONTAMINATION -- IF IT'S NOT CLEAN; DEICE PER SOP.
