A B737 PIC RPT REGARDING A FLT ATTENDANT THAT ALLEGES SHE WAS INJURED AFTER THE FLT HAD ENCOUNTERED TURB DURING CLBOUT FROM TUL; OK.
Narrative
CLBING OUT OF TUL ENRTE TO MCI; WE BEGAN EXPERIENCING CONTINUOUS LIGHT CHOP WITH AN OCCASIONAL MODERATE CHOP. I CALLED MY 'A' FLT ATTENDANT AND TOLD HIM TO HAVE THE FLT ATTENDANTS STAY SEATED. HE SAID OK. CLBING THROUGH FL200; WE BEGAN EXPERIENCING MODERATE TURB. WE RPTED THE TURB TO MCI CTR AND ASKED THEM IF THEY WERE AWARE OF ANY OTHER MODERATE TURB RPTS IN OUR AREA. HE SAID THE TURB WOULD LAST UP TO APPROX FL280. WE WERE NEVER GIVEN ANY WARNING THAT THIS TURB EXISTED. I THEN ASKED MCI CTR FOR AN IMMEDIATE DSCNT TO 16000 FT WHERE ANOTHER ACFT RPTED IT SMOOTH. WE DSNDED TO 16000 FT; IT SMOOTHED OUT; AND WE CONTINUED TO MCI. AFTER PAX WERE DEPLANED; MY 'A' FLT ATTENDANT TOLD ME THAT THE 'B' FLT ATTENDANT WAS GOING TO 'SIT' ON OUR LAST LEG FROM MCI-MDW. I ASKED HIM WHY. HE SAID SHE FELT SHE HAD HURT HER BACK IN THE MODERATE TURB FROM TUL-MCI. I WENT TO SPEAK WITH HER AND SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO 'TRY' TO WORK THE FLT TO MDW. I ASKED HER IF SHE FELT SHE WOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM HER DUTIES IN AN EMER SIT. SHE RESPONDED 'NO.' AT THAT POINT I DECIDED TO PULL HER FROM THE FLT. I PULLED OUT MY FOM AND MADE THE REQUIRED NOTIFICATIONS PER FOM 9.6.7 -- ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS RPTS SUMMARY. HER PARENTS LIVE IN MCI; SO SHE SAID SHE WOULD GO TO THEIR HOUSE FOR THE NIGHT. IT WAS MY BELIEF THAT SHE WAS ASKED BY THE COMPANY TO SEE A COMPANY DOCTOR WHILE IN MCI. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY FILLED OUT A COMPANY IRREGULARITY RPT CONCERNING THIS INCIDENT.
