A BE40 CREW; ON APCH TO JKA; LANDED AT ANOTHER ARPT WITH SIMILAR RWY ORIENTATION.
Narrative
UPON ARR TO JKA; WE WERE VECTORED TOWARD THE ARPT BY PNS APCH CTL. THE CTLR RPTED THE ARPT AT 1200 FT AND CALL IT IN SIGHT. THE SIC SAID HE HAD THE ARPT AND ASKED IF HE SHOULD RPT IT IN SIGHT. I SAID NO; WAIT BECAUSE OF OTHER TFC IN THE AREA THAT APCH WAS TALKING TO. APCH AGAIN CALLED THE ARPT AND THE SIC SAID AGAIN HE HAD IT IN SIGHT. I SAW WHAT LOOKED TO BE THE ARPT WITH A RWY 27/9. WX AT THE TIME OF LNDG WAS CLR. THIS APCH WAS MADE CONFUSING BECAUSE OF THE LNDG ARPT SIMILAR RWY LAYOUT AND THE CTLR REPEATEDLY CALLING THE ARPT OUT TO THE CREW. THIS ARPT WE LANDED ON IS CTLED BY THE NAVY AND IS UNMANNED; ONLY USED AS A TRAINING FACILITY. IT IS NOT DEPICTED ON THE VFR CHARTS WITH RWY LAYOUT OR ON THE APCH PLATES. THEREFORE; SOMEONE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA CAN BE LED INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY WITH A CTLR CALLING THE ARPT; OUT SO FAR OUT. THE LNDG RESULTED IN A SLIGHT OVERRUN WITH NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT. THE ACFT WAS EASILY REMOVED BY THE PERSONNEL THAT CTLS THE TRAINING FACILITY AND AN FAA CERTIFIED A&P MECH FOUND NO DAMAGE OR PROBS AND AIRWORTHY. IT WOULD BE A GREAT BENEFIT TO HAVE ALL LNDG FACILITIES DEPICTED ON AN APCH CHART TO ELIMINATE THE CONFUSION WHEY FLYING TO AN UNFAMILIAR AREA.
