S80 FLC UNDERSHOOT DSCNT XING RESTR ON KORRY ONE STAR.

Narrative

DSNDING ON THE KORRY ONE ARR TO LGA APPROX XA20L; WE MISSED MAKING THE HARD 10000 FT AT KORRY INTXN. IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFICULT DSNDING THE 2000+ FT FROM HOLEY INTXN TO BRAND INTXN AT 11000 FT IN 6 MI. WHILE WE WERE REMARKING ON THAT; WE BOTH ALSO KIND OF MISSED THE NEED TO BE AT 1000O FT 5 MI SHORT OF ROBBINSVILLE. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME ON THE ARR FOR BOTH OF US. WE HAD AN FMS; BUT NO HSI DISPLAY; AND I DO NOT THINK THE DIAGRAMMING HELPED; IE; HAVING THE LIENS OF THE HOLDING PATTERN AT RBV CONFUSES THINGS A BIT. IT WAS ALSO AT THAT POINT; BTWN BRAND AND KORRY; THAT WE WERE TOLD TO SWITCH FREQS FROM CTR TO APCH CTL; AND THAT DISTRACTED ME FROM PAYING ATTN TO BUSINESS. NO MENTION WAS MADE BY THE CTLR ON THE SWITCH AS I ANNOUNCED SOMETHING LIKE; '11000 ON THE ARR;' AND IT DID NOT APPEAR THAT THERE WAS A PROB WITH TFC SEPARATION ON OUR TCASII DISPLAY BECAUSE OF OUR MISTAKE. AS WE APCHED KORRY; I SAID 'SHOULDN'T WE BE AT 10000;' AND THE FO AGREED. THE CTLR DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT; AND NEITHER DID WE. I WOULD GUESS AT KORRY WE WERE DSNDING OUT OF 10600 FT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH ZDC SPECIALIST REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: A ZDC SPECIALIST ADVISED THAT ZDC HAS NOTAMED THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO THE KORRY STAR DUE TO THE STEEP DSCNT GRADIENT BTWN HOLEY AND BRAND INTXNS: CHANGE: 'CROSS BRAND AT 11000 FT' TO: 'CROSS BRAND AT OR ABOVE 11000 FT.' ADD: 'CROSS DAVYS AT OR ABOVE 13000 FT.' CHANGE: 'CROSS SKIPY AT OR ABOVE FL190;' TO: 'CROSS SKIPY AT OR ABOVE FL190; AND AT OR BELOW FL220.' THESE CHANGES ALLOW A DSCNT GRADIENT OF 273 FPNM. THE REVISED STAR IS EXPECTED IN EARLY APRIL. CTLR'S HAVE BEEN BRIEFED TO ISSUE VERBAL AMENDMENTS TO THE PRESENT STAR RESTRS.
