DURING DSCNT FOR APCH; UPON INITIAL CONTACT WITH MIA APCH WE WERE ADVISED TO EXPECT A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 9L. FO WAS FLYING ACFT MANUALLY. ON DOGLEG TO FINAL; APCH INQUIRED IF ACR X ABCD HAD A VISUAL ON THE RWY. FO STATED HE HAD VISUAL AND THAT WAS RELAYED TO APCH CTL; WHO THEN ISSUED CLRNC FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 9L. FO CONTINUED TO ALIGN ACFT WITH RWY AS CAPT CONTINUED TO ACCOMPLISH BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST. CAPT WAS DISTR BY NOT BEING ABLE TO TUNE AND IDENT ILS FOR RWY 9L. DURING TURN TO FINAL APCH; APCH CTL SEND ACR X ABCD TO TWR FREQ. WHEN ACR X ABCD CHKED ON FREQ; TWR ASKED 'WHAT RWY DO YOU INTEND ON LNDG? IT APPEARS YOU ARE LINED UP FOR RWY 9R.' ACR X ABCD REQUESTED LNDG CLRNC FOR RWY 9R AND WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 9R. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT EVER OCCURRED. ACR X ABCD LANDED ON RWY 9R WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 537421: AFTER CLRING BY MIA APCH FOR A VISUAL APCH TO RWY 9L; FO ALIGNED THE ACFT TO RWY 9R. MIA TWR THEN AUTH CLRNC TO RWY 9R AND CLRED US TO LAND RWY 9R.
