Synopsis

A DEHAVILLAND -8 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A SCHEDULED MAINT INSPECTION CARD INCOMPLETE DUE TO A DISCREPANCY NOT ENTERED.

Narrative

WHILE PERFORMING A SCHEDULED INSPECTION; WORK CARD W57-30-15I; A MECH ASKED WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. THE INSPECTION IS A DETAILED VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE LOWER WING SKIN DOUBLER OUTBOARD OF THE NACELLE ALONG THE LEADING EDGE FOR DEBONDING AND MISSING SEALANT. I INFORMED THE MECH ABOUT DEBONDING AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE DEBONDING USUALLY OCCURS AROUND THE WATER DRAINS. I LOOKED AT THE WATER DRAIN OUTBOARD OF THE COLLECTOR BAY; WING STABILIZER YW191 AND NOTICED THAT IT APPEARED TO BE DEBONDED. A QUICK TAP TEST OF THE AREA CONFIRMED THE DEBOND. ANOTHER MECH THEN CAME UP TO ME AND ASKED ME TO INSPECT ANOTHER AREA OF THE ACFT. I FORGOT TO WRITE UP THE DISCREPANCY AND DID NOT REALIZE THIS UNTIL FEB/THU/02; WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE ATTN OF MY SUPVR. A WRITE-UP WAS THEN GENERATED TO HAVE THE AREA RE-INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. IN THE COMPANY COMPUTER MAINT TRACKING PROGRAM; THERE ARE 2 MODIFICATIONS LISTED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF DEBONDING; BUT HAVE NOT YET BEEN ACCOMPLISHED.
