Narrative
I ACCIDENTALLY CROSSED THE S EASTERN CORNER OF TEMPORARILY RESTR AIRSPACE; NEAR ZZZ; US. I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER IN OUR PERSONAL ACFT FROM ZZZ1 TO MY HOME ARPT. ON THE TRIP TO ZZZ1 I WAS INFORMED OF THE TFR DURING MY FLT BRIEFING; BUT HAD TO ASK FOR THE FDC NOTAMS BEFORE RECEIVING THAT INFO. THE TFR WAS NOT A FACTOR ON THE WAY TO ZZZ1. WE STOPPED IN ZZZ2. ON THE RETURN TRIP WE FLEW DIRECT. THE PREFLT BRIEFER DID NOT MENTION THE TFR AGAIN; BUT I ALSO FORGOT TO ASK ABOUT THE FDC NOTAMS. CONSEQUENTLY; I DID NOT REMEMBER THE RESTR AIRSPACE UNTIL I WAS WITHIN 30 NM OF IT. I WAS USING A HANDHELD GPS FOR NAVIGATION; IT OF COURSE DID NOT HAVE THE LOCATION OF THE AIRSPACE IN IT; NOR DID THE IFR SECTIONAL I WAS USING. I THOUGHT THAT THE AIRSPACE WAS NE OF ZZZ; SO WE TRIED TO VISUALLY FIND IT. IT WAS LATE AFTERNOON; OUR HEADING WAS SE; THE SUN WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US ON THE HORIZON; REDUCING VISIBILITY GREATLY. WE DID SPOT THE RESTR AREA; BUT WE WERE VERY CLOSE. I TURNED EAST IMMEDIATELY; BUT APPARENTLY; WAS TOO LATE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE FSDO TO INFORM ME OF MY VIOLATION. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS; UNWILLINGNESS TO CLIMB TO A HIGHER ALTITUDE; THE STRONGER HEADWIND WOULD HAVE REQUIRED US TO MAKE A FUEL STOP.
