FLT ATTENDANT INJURY DURING A TURB ENCOUNTER AT 30W ON AN EXTENDED OVERWATER OP INTO EHAM; FO.

Narrative

AFTER 6 HRS OF NORMAL UNEVENTFUL FLT; THE ACFT ENCOUNTERED LIGHT TO MODERATE TURB AT APPROX 32W. COMPANY PROCS AND TRAINING WERE FOLLOWED AND THE APPROPRIATE ACTIONS WERE TAKEN TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF PAX AND CREW. AS THE TURB INTENSITY INCREASED; THE APPROPRIATE ANNOUNCEMENTS WERE MADE; A LOWER ALT WAS REQUESTED ON HF THROUGH SHANWICK. THE TURB INCREASED AND SEVERAL MORE REQUESTS FOR A LOWER ALT WERE MADE. AT APPROX 30W A CLRNC WAS RECEIVED TO DSND FROM FL350 TO FL340. A DSCNT WAS INITIATED. AT APPROX FL345; THE TURB INCREASED DRAMATICALLY CAUSING THE AUTOPLT AND AUTOTHROTTLES TO DISENGAGE. THIS TURB LASTED FOR A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. UPON LEVELING OFF AT FL340 WE WERE ADVISED THAT THERE WERE INJURIES IN CABIN; INCLUDING A FLT ATTENDANT WHO APPEARED SERIOUS. THE LEAD FLT ATTENDANT REQUESTED MEDICAL ATTN FROM DOCTORS ON THE FLT. AFTER CONSULTING WITH CREW AND THE DOCTORS; A MEDICAL EMER WAS DECLARED AND THE FLT PROCEEDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT TO AMSTERDAM. EMS WAS STANDING BY AND ALL STANDARD AND COMPANY PROCS WERE FOLLOWED. UPON ARR AT THE GATE; THE STATION MGR OVERSAW THE TREATMENT AND TRANSPORT OF THE INJURED FLT ATTENDANT AND PAX. THE CREW WAS ASSEMBLED AND DEPLANED THE ACFT AFTER ALL PAX AND CREW HAD BEEN DEPLANED OR RELEASED.
