DEP RADAR CTLR INADVERTENTLY ASSIGNED A JETSTREAM 41 AND AN EXECUTIVE JET TO CLB ON DEP TO THE SAME ALT FROM OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. THEY MET WITH LTSS; BUT DID FORTUNATELY MISS EACH OTHER.

Narrative

WAS WORKING N DEP SECTOR; JS41; ACFT X WAS ON TWR ASSIGNED HEADING 300 DEGS. ACFT Y WAS SSWBOUND AFTER DEPARTING SATELLITE ARPT. JS41 WAS CLBED TO 6000 FT TO AVOID BE30 OVERFLT SE TO DCA AT 7000 FT. COORD WITH S DEP SECTOR FOR ACFT Y WAS TO CLB TO 6000 FT; S DEP REQUEST. THE ROOT CAUSE WAS 2 FOLD: I (N DEP) HAD NO BUSINESS WORKING THE JET OFF OF THE SATELLITE ARPT. I WAS ASKED TO DO SO AND I AGREED TO (BAD JUDGEMENT ON MY PART) DO IT. I ACCEPTED A HDOF FROM ANOTHER CTLR (AN OVERFLT LNDG AT A SATELLITE ARPT OUTSIDE MY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY). THIS ACFT SHOULD HAVE BEEN VECTORED AROUND MY AIRSPACE (AND GIVEN TO A DIFFERENT CTLR). THIS ACFT: A) INFLUENCED MY ACTIONS CONCERNING THE JET; AND B) WAS A DIRECT DISTR JUST MOVING THROUGH MY AIRSPACE (SBOUND) AGAINST THE 'FLOW' IN MY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN COGNIZANT OF A POTENTIAL CONFLICT WHEN I CLBED THE JS41 TO 6000 FT AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY COORDINATED 6000 FT FOR THE OTHER JET. IRRESPECTIVE OF THE DISTRACTIONS AND NON STANDARD ACFT HANDLING (ALLOWING THIS SBOUND OVERFLT AND WORKING A SATELLITE DEP); I ALONE AM TO BLAME FOR THIS ERROR.
