Narrative
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DEPARTING A 2600 FT PVT AIRSTRIP IN THE DAYTON; OH AREA. CONDITIONS WERE DRY/DAMP; IT HAD RAINED 2 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE ACFT WAS 120 LBS BELOW MAX GROSS WT AT THE TIME OF TKOF. HOW THE PROB AROSE: UPON LINING UP WITH THE RWY TO PERFORM A ROLLING SOFT FIELD TKOF I ADVANCED THE THROTTLE TO FULL PWR. DURING THE INITIAL TKOF ROLL ALL GAUGES AND INSTS APPEARED NORMAL. APPROX MIDFIELD THE ACFT WAS LIGHT ON THE LNDG GEAR AND THE NOSEWHEEL WAS SLIGHTLY OFF THE GND (AIRSPD APPROX 65 KTS). 3/4 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RWY THE PLANE ROTATED AND WAS FLYING IN GND EFFECT JUST ABOVE 70 KTS (BUT BELOW 75 KTS). I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE ACFT IN GND EFFECT; BUT AIRSPD DID NOT INCREASE. RWY CONDITIONS WERE MARGINAL DUE TO RAIN 2 DAYS PRIOR TO EVENT. FIELD WAS DRY; BUT VERY SOFT. ACFT WAS HVY FOR FIELD CONDITIONS. ACFT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACCELERATED WELL PAST VR ON GND. ACFT CONFIGN WAS SET UP FOR MINIMUM DRAG FOR FASTER ACCELERATION VERSUS MAX LIFT SHORT FIELD CONFIGN. I LOWERED THE NOSE; BUT THE ACFT BOUNCED AT THE END OF THE RWY (TWICE). I CONTINUED TO TRY AND ACCELERATE THE PLANE; BUT AFTER APPROX 1/2 MI DECIDED TO LAND JUST BEYOND THE RWY (APPROX 1/2 TO 3/4 OF A MI) IN A FIELD. NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND PROP WAS DAMAGED ON LNDG.
