AN FA10 CREW; TAXIING FOR TKOF AT KPWK; TAXIED ACROSS A RWY THEY WERE TO HOLD SHORT OF.

Narrative

WE WERE ON TAXI TO RWY 34 FROM HANGARS VIA TXWY F; TXWY B AND TXWY A TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 30. WE READ BACK THE HOLD SHORT OF RWY 30 CLRNC. WHILE TAXIING WE CAME TO THE TKOF BRIEFING PORTION OF THE CHKLIST. THE COPLT IS RELATIVELY NEW TO OUR COMPANY AND THE BRIEFING PORTION; IN MY MIND; WAS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT. I STARTED THE BRIEFING WHILE TAXIING ON TXWY B. RWY 30 IS PARALLEL TO TXWY B AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE R TURN ONTO TXWY A. I WAS CONCENTRATING SO MUCH ON THE BRIEFING THAT AFTER THE TURN; FORGOT TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 30; XING THE RWY WITHOUT CLRNC. FORTUNATELY; THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE TFC CONFLICT. ON RECOLLECTION; I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER 'LOOKING BOTH WAYS' BEFORE ENTERING THE RWY AREA; WHICH IS ANOTHER 'NORMAL' PROC OF OURS. I HAD A CASE OF 'TUNNEL THINKING' AND FORGOT THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY WHILE CONCENTRATING ON ANOTHER. IT MAY BE A BETTER PROC TO HAVE THE ACFT STOPPED WHILE GIVING THE TKOF BRIEFING EVEN IF IT TAKES A LITTLE LONGER. FROM A HUMAN FACTORS STANDPOINT; IT IS AMAZING TO ME; HOW WHEN 'IN THE SIT' IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO SEE A SIT DEVELOPING; BUT 'FROM THE OUTSIDE;' IT'S SO OBVIOUS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 547682: TWR INFORMED US OF OUR MISTAKE. WE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE ACFT TO BRIEF AND LOOKED OUTSIDE; BOTH WAYS BEFORE XING THE TXWYS AND RWYS AND KEPT BETTER AWARENESS OF OUR LOCATION WHILE TAXIING.
