THE PIC OF A DELAYED B757 CLOSES THE DOOR PREMATURELY; WAIVING FUEL SLIP PRESENTATION TO THE COCKPIT; BUT GATE AGENT PULLS JETWAY WHILE ACFT IS STILL BEING FUELED AT OGG; HI.

Narrative

REFUELING TRUCK LATE TO ARRIVE AT ACFT DUE TO WAITING TO GIVE FINAL FUEL LOAD UNTIL AFTER WE HAD A DEFINITE COUNT OF PAX AND BAGS. SHORT RWY AT OGG. HVY LOAD GOING NON-STOP TO LAX REQUIRES EXACT RWY ANALYSIS COMPUTATIONS. PAX WERE LOADED AND STILL PUMPING FUEL AT SCHEDULED DEP TIME. TO EXPEDITE PUSHBACK FROM GATE; TO NOT EXCEED VOID TIME ON OCEANIC CLRNC; I ELECTED TO SEND PAPERWORK OUT THE DOOR AND HAVE CABIN DOORS CLOSED BEFORE REFUELING WAS COMPLETED. TOLD GATE AGENT TO SEND FUEL SLIP IN TO COMPANY RATHER THAN HAVE REFUELER BRING IT TO COCKPIT. PROB AROSE WHEN CABIN DOOR WAS CLOSED AND GATE AGENT MOVED JETWAY AWAY FROM ACFT WHILE ACFT WAS STILL BEING REFUELED. THE JETWAY SHOULD HAVE REMAINED NEXT TO ACFT; UNTIL REFUELING WAS COMPLETED; TO SERVE AS AN EMER EXIT FOR PAX. GND SUPVR HAD JETWAY MOVED BACK UP TO ACFT AFTER 5-10 MIN ABSENCE; AND IT REMAINED NEXT TO ACFT UNTIL PUSHBACK. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN SUCH A HURRY TO CLOSE CABIN DOOR AND SHOULD HAVE JUST LIVED WITH DELAY AND ASKED FOR A NEW OCEANIC CLRNC VOID TIME. FOR GND PERSONNEL; SINCE LATE FUEL LOAD DECISIONS ARE COMMON ON THESE FLTS BACK TO MAINLAND BE AWARE OF LATE REFUELING WITH PAX ON BOARD AND NEED TO KEEP JETWAY NEXT TO ACFT FOR EXIT.
