Narrative
I CLBED AFTER TKOF TO AN ALT OF 2600 FT WHICH WAS 600 FT ABOVE MY ASSIGNED ALT OF 2000 FT. IT RESULTED IN A SETTING OFF THE TCASII ON A COMMERCIAL JET. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE TCASII WARNING AT THE TIME. THERE WERE MANY CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. THE FIRST WAS MY DECISION TO TAKE OFF DURING THE MORNING RUSH HR. I BECAME AWARE OF THE RUSH HR AFTER I HAD ALREADY GOTTEN IN LINE WITH ALL OF THE OTHER PLANES. ANOTHER FACTOR WAS THE ACTIVE RWY. IT HAD A SLIGHT TAILWIND. THIS MEANT THAT WHILE TAXIING WE HAD A SLIGHT HEADWIND WHICH BLEW JET EXHAUST AT MY PLANE. I ENDURED STRONG JET EXHAUST FOR 15-20 MINS DURING TAXIING. THE EXHAUST MADE ME NAUSEOUS; BUT I KEPT TELLING MYSELF THAT FRESH AIR AFTER TKOF WOULD FIX THE PROB. (MY MISTAKE.) UPON TKOF; I FOUND MYSELF STRUGGLING TO KEEP FROM VOMITING. MY ASSIGNED ALT WAS CLRLY WRITTEN ON MY LAP TABLET. AT THE TIME I WAS UNAWARE THAT I HAD BEEN EFFECTED BY THE CARBON MONOXIDE. I BECAME AWARE OF MY ALT VIOLATION ONLY AFTER ATC ASKED ME TO 'SAY ALT.' I THEN IMMEDIATELY DSNDED TO 2000 FT. I FINISHED MY 80 MI FLT TO COLLEGE STATION; TX. THE NAUSEA CLRED UP IN ABOUT 4 HRS. I HAD A HEADACHE ALL DAY. ALL OF THESE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE WITHIN MY CTL.
