Narrative
WE WERE FLYING IN A FALCON 50 UNDER IFR CTLED BY ZNY. AFTER SOME PREVIOUS VECTORS WE WERE GIVEN DIRECT TO UNV AND ASKED TO RPT THE ARPT IN SIGHT FOR THE VISUAL APCH; OUR ALT WAS 6000 FT MSL. AT 7 MI; AND 6000 FT WE OBTAINED A VISUAL ON THE ARPT AND OUR HEADING WAS 240 DEGS ESTABLISHED ON THE LOC TO RWY 24. DUE TO ZNY HOLDING US AT 6000 FT UNTIL A VISUAL APCH COULD BE MADE; WE WERE HIGH ON THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 24. WE SLOWED AND USED AIRBRAKES; SLATS TO LOSE OUR ALT AND WHILE DSNDING THROUGH 3000 FT MSL WE GOT A TFC ALERT ON OUR TCASII OF TFC AT OUR ALT TRAVELING TOWARD OUR POS. WE INITIATED AN S-TURN TO THE R (NW) TO AVOID THE TFC WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A WHITE HELI. WHILE MANEUVERING TO MISS THE HELI WE NOTICED ANOTHER ACFT 700 FT BELOW US. WE THEN INITIATED THE S-TURN BACK TO THE L (SW) TO REESTABLISH OURSELVES FOR FINAL ON RWY 24. THE ACFT THAT WAS 700 FT BELOW US EVIDENTLY WAS ON/IN THE TFC PATTERN AT N96 (BELLEFONTE) AN ARPT 3 MI NW OF UNV. A GUY THAT LIVES NEAR DEP END OF RWY 25 SAID WE HAD A NEAR MISS AND WAS RPTING US TO THE FAA.
