SR20 PLT HAD HIGH OIL TEMP WHEN DEPARTING LAS; AT 110 DEGS F; OAT AND AT MAX GROSS WT.

Narrative

TOOK OFF FROM LAS (2200 FT) IN 43 DEGS C AT GROSS WT (3000 LBS) IN CIRRUS. POH (PLT OPERATING HANDBOOK) ADVISES 'EXTREME CAUTION' IN TKOF OVER 40 DEGS C. DENSITY ALT WAS 6000 FT; FOR WHICH POH INDICATES 2166 FT IS REQUIRED FOR TKOF ROLL. RWY LENGTH WAS 9700 FT (LAS RWY 19R). TKOF WAS SUCCESSFUL THOUGH ROLL WAS LONGER THAN POH SUGGESTS (ABOUT 3500 FT) AND CLB RATE WAS POORER. ABOUT 20 NM OUT WHILE CLBING; THE OIL ANNUNCIATOR ILLUMINATED. THE OIL TEMP WAS AT RED LINE AND PRESSURE WAS LOW (THOUGH IN THE GREEN). I CALLED LAS APCH WHO ADVISED BOULDER CITY AS A DIVERSION. ON LEVELING OUT AND DSNDING; THE OIL TEMP WENT DOWN AND THE ANNUNCIATOR EXTINGUISHED. GIVEN THE LIMITED RWY AT BOULDER CITY; I DETERMINED IT WOULD BE MORE PRUDENT TO RETURN TO LAS. I DID SO; FOLLOWING CLASS B PROCS. RETURN WAS UNEVENTFUL; OIL TEMP AND PRESSURE WERE NORMAL; AND OIL LEVEL WAS NORMAL ON RETURN. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: CLB AT GROSS ON VERY HOT DAY AND HIGH DENSITY ALT. CORRECTIVE ACTION: REDUCE CLB RATE (STOP CLB).
