Narrative
DEPARTED TIPTON (FME); MD; ARPT TO MID-ATLANTIC (W73); PA; TO VISIT FRIENDS AND GO TO A LCL OUTSIDE EVENT. DEPARTED W73 AT ABOUT XA30 TO DROP OFF 1 PAX AT CARROLL COUNTY (DMW); MD; ARPT. WHILE AT DMW; TOOK VARIOUS KIDS UP FOR A PLANE RIDE. DID A COUPLE OF FULL STOPS AT ARPT. DEPARTED CARROLL COUNTY ARPT FOR RETURN TO TIPTON. WHILE ON DOWNWIND DURING LNDG CHK; MY SON ASKED SEVERAL QUESTIONS; AND I STOPPED TO ANSWER HIM; NOT DOUBLECHKING THE CHKLIST. I WAS ALSO WEARING FOR THE FIRST TIME A NEW SET OF ANR HEADSETS. I WAS GETTING READY TO LAND AND; LIKE BEFORE; THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS CHKED. AS TOUCHDOWN CAME; I NOTICED THE PROPS STRIKING THE GND AND REALIZING WHAT HAPPENED; PULLED PWR ALL THE WAY OFF AND SETTLED THE PLANE DOWN ON ITS BELLY. NO ONE WAS INJURED AND DAMAGE TO ACFT MINIMAL. I NOTIFIED THE FAA OF THE INCIDENT AND THEY CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS PLT ERROR AND NO FURTHER ACTIONS WERE TAKEN. LOOKING BACK AT THE SIT; I REALIZE THAT THE FOLLOWING EVENTS ALL LED UP TO MY SIT. THE DAY WAS HOT AND HUMID IN WHICH I STAYED ACTIVE ALL DAY. BY THE DAY'S END; I WAS GETTING RUN DOWN AND LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING HOME. THE NEW HEADSETS MAKE EVERYTHING QUIETER AND I DIDN'T NOTICE THE THROTTLE BACK ALARM. NOT DOUBLECHKING THE LNDG CHKLIST AFTER BEING DISTR WAS MY FINAL ERROR. I HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS INCIDENT AND FEEL THAT IT ALL COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I WOULD HAVE ENSURED THAT I WAS NOT RUN DOWN; DEHYDRATED; OR WAS MORE USED TO THE NEW HEADSETS. I SHOULD HAVE HAD AVIONICS INSTALL AN AUDIO WARNING SYS THROUGH THE INTERCOM SYS. MOST OF ALL I SHOULD HAVE DOUBLECHKED AND RECHKED THE CHKLIST.
