B757-200 CAPT; AFTER RETURNING FROM AN EXTENDED ABSENCE; WAS ASSIGNED TO FLY TO SKCL FOR HIS FIRST AND SECOND FLTS. THE CAPT HAD TO PROTEST TO HIS CHIEF PLT TO BE REMOVED FROM THE FLT.

Narrative

FLT STANDARDS PLT PUSHING. HAVE NOT FLOWN FOR MY ACR SINCE MAR/01; 17 MONTHS AGO. AFTER REQUALIFICATION TRAINING FLT; STANDARDS ADVISED MY FIRST FLT WOULD BE TO CALI AT NIGHT. I ADVISED THAT I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS ASSIGNMENT DUE TO MY RECENCY OF EXPERIENCE AND THAT I WANTED A COUPLE FLTS; NOT INTO MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. FLT STANDARDS REFUSED TO MODIFY SCHEDULE. FLT STANDARDS FURTHER ADVISED ME THAT CALI IS ASSIGNED TO TRAINEES IMMEDIATELY OUT OF SCHOOL. FLT STANDARDS ADVISED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE UNLESS I CONVINCED MY CHIEF PLT IT WAS WARRANTED. CHIEF PLT INTERCEDED TO AFFECT A MORE APPROPRIATE TRIP. BEFORE FLYING THAT TRIP; FLT STANDARDS THEN ADVISED ME I WOULD FLY CALI IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THIS TURN. I ADVISED ONE TURN WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH AND THAT I HAD CONVEYED THAT TO CHIEF PLT. FLT STANDARDS ADVISED 'TOO BAD; AND WE ARE ASSIGNING YOU THE CALI TRIP ANYWAY.' CHIEF PLT AGAIN INTERCEDED FOR ANOTHER MORE APPROPRIATE TURN FOR EXPERIENCE BUT COUNSELED ME THAT CALI WAS A GOOD TRIP FOR FLT STANDARDS. NO APPARENT CONCERN FOR PLT INPUT OR OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH FLT STANDARDS. SUPPORT TO CHANGE TRIP BUT NONE TO PRECLUDE FUTURE OCCURRENCES FROM CHIEF PLT. HORRID SAFETY HAZARD OVERALL. CAPT FLEW CARIBBEAN AND DOMESTIC TURNAROUND TRIPS IN LIEU OF SOUTH AMERICAN SEQUENCE IN AUGUST.
