Narrative
CAPT WAS EXPLAINING VARIOUS COMPANY PROC(S) WHILE AWAITING TKOF CLRNC. A CLRNC WAS GIVEN AND THE FO READ BACK WITH A 'COPY CLRED FOR TKOF.' UPON CLBOUT; ANOTHER CTLR; FROM TWR; ADVISED THAT THE CLRNC WAS ONLY A DEP CLRNC; NOT A TKOF. WHILE OPERATING A PART 121 OP; CREW WAS ADVISED TO TAXI FROM THE RAMP TO RWY 12. HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 12; CREW ADVISED TO HOLD SHORT. A FEW MINS LATER; CREW GIVEN TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD. WHILE HOLDING IN POS; CAPT ASKED TWR HOW LONG THE DELAY WAS TO BE EXPECTED. TWR ADVISED TKOF CLRNC MOMENTARILY. A FEW MINS PASSED; THEN TWR ISSUED A CLRNC. FO READ BACK THE CLRNC WITH 'COPY CLR FOR TKOF.' UPON CLBOUT; A DIFFERENT CTLR ADVISED THAT THE 'CLRNC' WAS A DEP; NOT A TKOF CLRNC. THE CONFUSION STARTED WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE A STUDENT CTLR IN THE TWR. THE CTLR WAS GETTING OUR CALL SIGN BACKWARDS AND STUMBLING THROUGH THE CLRNC. BOTH THE CAPT AND FO RECALL HEARING CLR FOR TKOF. IF IT WAS THE CASE AND THE CTLR DID NOT ISSUE A TKOF CLRNC; WHY DID THE SUPVR ALLOW THE CREW TO CONTINUE WITH THE TKOF ROLL. CREW TAXIED PAST THE ARRESTING CABLES DURING THE TKOF ROLL. THIS DISTANCE IS APPROX 1000 FT ALLOWING CTLR TO CORRECT CLRNC.
