Narrative

CALLED GND CTL FOR TAXI TO ACTIVE. TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 4R. I THOUGHT I WAS ON TXWY L WHEN IN FACT I WAS ON TXWY B. TXWY L PROCEEDS W FROM S RAMP (LOUISIANA ARPT) OF BATON ROUGE METRO. SO DOES TXWY B. TXWY E INTERSECTS TXWYS L AND B. IF I WAS ON TXWY L (LIKE I THOUGHT I WAS) YOU TAKE A R TURN ON TXWY E TO GO TO END OF RWY 4R. I WAS ACTUALLY ON TXWY B AND THAT R TURN TOOK ME ACROSS RWY 13 AND ONTO RWY 4R WITHOUT KNOWING IT. GND CTL CALLED ME AND SAID I WAS ON RWY 4R WITHOUT CLRNC FROM TWR AND WAS TOLD TO BACK TAXI ON RWY 4R TO END OF IT AND CALL TWR. I WAS TOTALLY CONFUSED SINCE I WAS SURE I WAS ON TXWYS L AND E (NOT TXWY B). CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE; I WAS DISTRACTED DURING TAXI BY A FLUCTUATING R FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE; THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD STOPPED COOLING AND I WAS TRYING TO GET IT GOING AGAIN; AND THE CAPT WAS PRESSURIZING ON THE GND AND I WAS WORKING WITH IT. ALSO; I HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD TO USE RWY 4R BEFORE AND WAS UNSURE HOW TO GET TO IT EVEN WITH THE ARPT DIAGRAM LYING ON THE COPLT'S SEAT. ADD TO THAT; I JUST FOUND OUT I'M BEING LAID OFF AND OUT OF A JOB! (STRESS FACTOR I GUESS.) (ALSO; I WAS LATE GETTING THE PLANE AND BEHIND SCHEDULE FOR MEETING THE BUYER.) I NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE IN 30 YRS FLYING. A BAD DAY! SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 561525: ACFT X; A PA31T; WAS TAXIING FROM THE S RAMP TO RWY 4R WHEN HE PASSED UP THE RWY ENTRANCE. I ENTERED AN ACTIVE RWY 13. AT THE TIME ACFT Y; A SR22 WAS ON A 1/4 MI FINAL. I SENT ACFT Y AROUND. NO LOSS OF SEPARATION OCCURRED. THE PLT OF ACFT X WAS ADVISED HE HAD TAXIED ONTO AN ACTIVE RWY. HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT HE WAS CLRED TO RWY 4R. THE GND CTLR ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 4R.
