Narrative
CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 21 FROM FBO RAMP. I STOPPED SHORT OF THE HOLD LINE WHERE RWYS 3/21 AND 17/35 AND 12/30 ALL CROSS. GND CTL CALLED AND SAID I WAS 500 FT SHORT OF THE RWY AND TO MOVE ON UP. WHEN I STARTED MOVING; GND CALLED AND SAID TO CONTACT TWR. UPON CONTACTING TWR; THEY TOLD ME I WAS ON AN ACTIVE RWY. THE MARKINGS ARE VERY CONFUSING AT THIS INTXN WITH 3 RWYS XING. WHEN CLRED TO TAXI; THE CLRNC SHOULD BE MADE OBVIOUS THAT TKOF IS FROM AN INTXN WITH A DESIGNATED TXWY; NOT JUST CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 21. ALSO; RWY MARKINGS ARE GREAT TO READ FROM THE COCKPIT OF AN AIRLINER 20 FT UP. THEY ARE MUCH HARDER TO FIGURE OUT FROM 5 FT ABOVE THE GND. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: IN CONVERSATION WITH AN ABQ TWR SPECIALIST IT WAS REVEALED; THE AREA IN QUESTION; WHERE RWYS 3/21; 17/35; AND 12/30 INTERSECT; IS SOMEWHAT CONFUSING TO PLTS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. BECAUSE OF THAT FACT MAPS OF THE ARPT HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO THE FBO(S) TO HELP INFORM THE UNFAMILIAR PLT. IT WAS EMPHASIZED THAT TAXI CLRNCS INCLUDE; DEP RWY; TXWY(S) TO THE RWY AND IF IT'S AN INTXN TKOF; USABLE LENGTH.
