AN EMBRAER 145 MAY HAVE BEEN OPERATED WITH THE FLAPS EXTENDED IN AN OVERSPD CONDITION DUE TO CREW DISTR WITH A BAGGAGE FIRE LIGHT.
Narrative
AFTER TKOF AT ZZZ; I THOUGHT BAGGAGE FIRE LIGHT MIGHT BE LIT. I PRESSED FIRE TEST TO CHK -- THERE WAS NO EICAS INDICATION. AFTER FIRE TEST; I FOUND OUT IT WAS NOT; BUT BAG LIGHT STAYED LIT; BUT PRESSED EXTINGUISHER INSTEAD. THIS WAS DURING CLB FLOW ON APCH TO ZZZ1. FO CALLED FOR FLAPS TO 9 DEGS AND I CAN'T BE SURE THEY WEREN'T ALREADY THERE AND; THEREFORE; ENTIRE FLT I WAS VERY DISTR AFTER ACCIDENTALLY FIRING BAG FIRE BOTTLE. AND STILL I AM NOT SURE IF FLAPS WERE UP OR DOWN. I WROTE UP ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF BOTTLE AND RETURNED TO ZZZ. I CAN'T BE SURE OF POSSIBLE OVERSPD BECAUSE THINGS WERE VERY DISRUPTED AFTER BAG LIGHT PROB WHETHER TO GO BACK TO ZZZ OR CONTINUE. I CHOSE TO CONTINUE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE BAGGAGE FIRE EXTINGUISHER BOTTLE DOES NOT HAVE AN ARMING SWITCH; BUT DOES HAVE A SWITCH GUARD. THE RPTR SAID THE SWITCH GUARD CAN EASILY BE BYPASSED BY SLIPPING YOUR FINGER UNDERNEATH THE GUARD. THE RPTR STATED THE FIRE WARNING TEST HAS A PARTICULAR CHARACTERISTIC THAT AFTER THE TEST IF MADE; ALL FIRE WARNING LIGHTS GO OUT EXCEPT THE BAGGAGE LIGHT WHICH REMAINS ON UNTIL THE FIRE TEST SWITCH IS MOMENTARILY TAPPED.
