FA-20 CREW HAD A TRACK DEV WHEN FLYING THE SLC 8 SID AT SLC.

Narrative

PROB AROSE WHEN RADAR VECTORS TO INTERCEPT COURSE WERE NOT MENTIONED DURING DEP BRIEFING BY MYSELF. WE WERE CLRED THE SALT LAKE 8 DEP TO THE TCH 094 DEG RADIAL TO INTERCEPT THE 303 DEG RADIAL OF MTJ; THEN AS FILED. ON DEP; I ANNOUNCED THAT WE HAD PASSED TCH AND THAT WE WERE TO INTERCEPT THE 094 DEG RADIAL. THE PF INITIATED A R TURN TO INTERCEPT. DEP INQUIRED ABOUT OUR ABILITY TO MAINTAIN OBSTACLE SEPARATION. WE HAD EXCELLENT VISIBILITY; SO I RESPONDED 'I THINK SO.' CTLR THEN ADVISED THAT WE WERE ASSIGNED A HDG UPON TKOF; BUT THAT IT WAS OK AND WE WERE THEN ASSIGNED A 120 DEG HDG TO INTERCEPT THE 094 DEG RADIAL. WE NEVER CAME CLOSE TO AN OBSTACLE AND THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL. THE FACT THAT WE HAD ARISEN VERY EARLY TO START THE TRIP AND WERE OVER 15 HRS INTO OUR DUTY DAY PROBABLY CONTRIBUTED TO OUR BEING TIRED ENOUGH THAT WE DID NOT THOROUGHLY RESEARCH THE DEP PROCS. WE DID NOT HURRY THE TURN-AROUND PROCESS; BUT DID MISS A STEP IN THE STAR. ENSURING THAT BOTH PLTS STUDY THE PROCS; AND BRIEF EACH OTHER TO ENSURE COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING WOULD PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. CLRNC DELIVERY PRESENTED OUR CLRNC CORRECTLY; BUT IF HE HAD MENTIONED THAT WE WERE TO FLY THE SLC 8 WITH RADAR VECTORS TO THE TCH 094 DEG RADIAL; THAT MIGHT HAVE HELPED ME REALIZE THAT WE WERE NOT TO INITIATE OUR OWN TURN TO INTERCEPT.
