Narrative

I WAS INBOUND TO PHX. MOST OF THE FLT; WE WERE ON RADAR VECTORS TO POINTS FAR WEST ON OUR FLT PLAN DUE TO THE FACT OUR ACFT WAS AN MD82/A. APCHING PHX; DURING SEVERE CLR CONDITIONS; OUR VECTOR WAS TO JOIN THE PXR 34 DEG RADIAL NE OF PXR. OUR COURSE WOULD HAVE US INTERCEPT NE OF HOMRR INTXN. ZAB GAVE US A CLRNC TO 'CROSS HOMRR AT 10000 FT;' 250 KTS AND AN ALTIMETER SETTING.' I REPEATED THE CLRNC; AND WE COMMENCED A DSCNT. LEVELING OFF AT 10000 FT; ZAB HANDED US OFF TO PHX APCH. WE CHKED IN WITH APCH WITH OUR ALT AND ATIS CODE AND APCH ANSWERED 'ROGER.' AS WE WERE SIGHTSEEING; WE MENTIONED TO EACH OTHER HOW HIGH THE PEAKS APPEARED. ALSO LISTENING TO OTHER ACFT INBOUND; THEIR CLRNCS FOR THE HOMRR XING WERE FOR 12000 FT; AS THE BUNTR 1 ARR SAYS TO EXPECT. TO THIS TIME; I DON'T FOR SURE KNOW IF WE WERE ASSIGNED 10000 FT OR 12000 FT. I'M SURE THEY SAID 10000 FT AND NO ONE; ZAB AND PHX APCH QUESTIONED OUR ALT. NO OTHER ACFT WERE IN OUR VICINITY ACCORDING TO TCASII. IN THE FUTURE; MY MIND WILL BE PUT TO EASE BY RECHKING THE ALTS ON STARS AND QUESTIONING ATC IF SOMETHING DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT.
