C208 PLT HAS RWY INCURSION AT ONT; AS ANOTHER C208 IS ON INITIAL TKOF.
Narrative
RWY INCURSION OCCURRED AT ONT ARPT. MY TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO TAXI TO RWY 26L VIA TXWY K; TXWY M; AND TXWY Q. THE RTE CROSSED RWY 26R (WHICH WAS CLOSED) AT TXWY K. FROM TERMINAL; THE RTE TOOK ME ACROSS RWY 26R AT TXWY K WITH A L TURN AT TXWY M TO THE INTXN OF RWY 26L AND TXWY 1. I DID NOT STOP UNTIL I REALIZED THAT I HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINES. AS I CAME TO A STOP I SAW CARAVAN ROTATE ON RWY 26L; OUR SEPARATION WAS STILL SAFE. I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY ACFT OUTSIDE OF THE PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES OF RWY 26L. I FEEL A BIG FACTOR WAS THAT TXWY K IS A HIGH SPD TURNOFF AND THEREFORE A LARGE DISTANCE EXISTS BTWN THE ACTUAL RWY AND THE HOLD SHORT LINES. SINCE I WAS STILL FAR FROM THE PHYSICAL BOUNDARIES OF RWY 26L; I WAS COMPLACENT AND DID NOT REALIZE I WAS XING THE HOLD SHORT LINES. ANOTHER FACTOR WAS A NEW RTE THAT I HAD NOT BEEN ON BEFORE. I REVIEWED THE ARPT DIAGRAM BEFORE TAXI AND FELT THAT I WAS FAMILIAR ENOUGH WITH THE TAXI RTE ASSIGNED. I AM SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF THAT I WAS NOT MORE AWARE OPERATING IN A SENSITIVE ENVIRONMENT AS ONT. I FEEL THE WAY TO AVOID AN INCIDENT LIKE THIS IS TO ABSOLUTELY DO NOTHING ON THE TAXI BUT FOCUS ON YOUR RTE; INSTEAD OF BEING DISTR BY THINGS INSIDE THE COCKPIT.
