AFTER LNDG ON RWY 19L AT RVS; TWR ADVISED PLT HE WAS CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 19R.

Narrative

AFTER A ROUTINE PRACTICE OF MANEUVERS IN THE SE PRACTICE AREA FROM RICHARD JONES ARPT (RVS); I PICKED UP THE CURRENT ATIS INFO AND NOTIFIED TUL APCH THAT I WAS INBOUND TO RVS; 3 MI E OF BIXBY; LEVELED OFF AT 2500 FT WITH THE CURRENT ATIS INFO. TUL APCH REPLIED BY DIRECTING ME TO SQUAWK AND IDENT. I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS IN RADAR CONTACT AND TO PROCEED E OF THE POWER PLANT TO ENTER A MIDFIELD L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 19L. AS I CAME CLOSER TO THE ARPT (APPROX 3 MI E OF RVS); I WAS ADVISED BY TULSA APCH TO CONTACT THE TWR ON 119.2 (FREQ COMMONLY USED FOR TFC OPERATING ON RWY 19L). I CHKED IN WITH THE TWR NOTIFYING THEM THAT I WAS INBOUND FOR A MID-FIELD L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 19L FULL STOP. THE TWR REPLIED AND GAVE ME DIRECTIONS TO MAKE A R TURN DIRECT TO THE MOTELS AND CLRED ME FOR LNDG ON RWY 19L. I READ BACK CLRNC. I WAS VERBALLY ATTACKED BY THE TWR CTLR SAYING THAT I WAS CLRED FOR RWY 19R; NOT RWY 19L. THIS INCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE LED TO AN ACCIDENT WAS CAUSE BY MISCOMS BTWN THE PLT (I) AND ATC. I BELIEVED THAT THE TWR CTLR THOUGHT HE HAD CLRED ME TO LAND ON RWY 19R INSTEAD OF RWY 19L. IF HE INDEED CLRED ME FOR RWY 19R; HE FAILED TO VERIFY AND CORRECT MY READBACKS. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED IF THE TWR CTLR HAD CLRED ME FOR THE RWY HE WANTED ME TO LAND ON OR AT LEAST CORRECTED MY READBACKS.
