A BE1900 FLTCREW MISUNDERSTAND A TIPH CLRNC AS A CLRNC TO TAKE OFF. TWR ISSUED ADVISORY AND ACFT ABORTED.
Narrative
I WAS GIVEN A POS AND HOLD CLRNC ON RWY 13R. I TAXIED ONTO RWY AND INITIATED THE TKOF. TWR ADVISED I WAS NOT CLRED FOR TKOF; SO I STARTED AN ABORT. LOOKING DOWN THE RWY; I NOTICED A B767 HAD JUST CLRED THE RWY. EVEN IF I HAD CONTINUED THE TKOF I WOULD HAVE ROTATED WELL BEFORE AND CLRED THE B767 WITH AMPLE ROOM TO SPARE. THIS WAS TO BE MY LAST FLT SEGMENT ON WHAT WAS A LONG DUTY PERIOD. THE COMPLETION OF THIS FLT WOULD HAVE PUT ME RIGHT AT THE LEGAL LIMIT FOR DUTY TIME. WITH THIS IN MIND I WAS IN A BIT OF A HURRY AND REGRETFULLY WHEN GIVEN THE POS AND HOLD INSTRUCTION BY ATC; I HEARD WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR; RATHER THAN WHAT WAS SAID. EVEN 1 MIN OF EXTRA DELIBERATION; DUE CARE AND ATTN COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS INCIDENT. FORTUNATELY; THERE WAS NO ADVERSE CONSEQUENCES AS A RESULT OF MY INCOMPETENCE IN THIS MATTER EXCEPT TO MY PRICE. DUE TO THE LONG DUTY PERIOD; TIREDNESS MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN A FACTOR IN THIS INCIDENT. HOWEVER; I MUST LISTEN VERY CAREFULLY TO ALL ATC CLRNCS. THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT DOING SO WILL BE DISASTROUS.
