Narrative
ARRIVED PDK ON IFR FLT PLAN; VFR CONDITIONS. ARPT BUSY WITH PARALLEL RWYS IN SIMULTANEOUS USE; CLRED TO LAND L SIDE (RWY 2L); ADDITIONAL TFC BEHIND ME. UNEVENTFUL LNDG -- APPLIED BRAKES TO TRY AND STOP BEFORE XING RWY. I THOUGHT I HAD STOPPED ACFT AT FAR EDGE OF TXWY B; HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS (REGARDING TKOF); MADE IMMEDIATE TURN ONTO TXWY B (APPROX 110 DEG TURN). I FELT THIS WAS MOST EXPEDITIOUS EXIT FROM RWY -- GIVEN EXTREMELY TIGHT TURNING RADIUS OF SR22 -- DESIRE NOT TO TURN ONTO XING RWY -- AND NEXT TXWY WAS 'FAR' DOWN THE RWY. IN MIDDLE OF MY TURN TO TXWY; TWR CALLED TO ME; SEEMED TO START A TAXI CLRNC AND THEN AMENDED TO 'EXPEDITE OFF.' ASKED TO CALL TWR ON ARR AT FBO. TWR SAID I SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE A '180 DEG TURN' ON THE RWY. FACTORS: SR22 HAS POOR BRAKES (DIFFICULT TO STOP). PROBABLY I OVERJUDGED MY STOPPING POINT; SR22 HAS EXCELLENT TURN RADIUS; ALLOWING R ANGLE TURNS. TWR MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH TIGHT TURN RADIUS. MAY NOT HAVE EXPECTED TIGHT TURNOFF; NOT A 180 DEGS; BUT MORE THAN 90 DEGS TO CTRLINE OF TXWY (I ENDED UP ON R SIDE OF TXWY). TWR DID NOT EXPEDITIOUSLY GIVE DIRECTIONS ON WHERE TO TURN OFF; OR INDICATE PRIOR TO MY STOPPING ACFT TO 'EXPEDITE' ANYWHERE. I WAS 'TRYING TO HELP' BY EXITING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE; CLR TO ME THAT IMMEDIATE TURN WOULD HAVE BEEN FASTER THAN CONTINUING TO NEXT TXWY. XING RWY WAS TOO CLOSE FOR ME TO QUICKLY TURN; UNLESS TWR GAVE ME INSTRUCTIONS SOONER. I DO NOT THINK I DID A REVERSAL ON THE RWY. IN THE FUTURE; I AM LIKELY TO ONLY TAXI FORWARD OR OFF ON TXWY LINES; EVEN IF THIS SLOWS ANY FOLLOWING TFC; AND LET TWR DEAL WITH IT.
