PLT IN A GLASAIR SH-2R FOLLOWS THE WRONG ACFT TO THE WRONG RWY AND LANDS JUST AS PRECEDING ACFT CLRS THE RWY.
Narrative
AFTER A SHORT PROFICIENCY TRAINING FLT IN THE NW PRACTICE AREA IN A HIGH PERFORMANCE GLASAIR EXPERIMENTAL RETRACTABLE; I RPTED TO THE TWR CTLING THE N RWY AT STANDARD RPTING POINT WITH ATIS CODE FOR A FULL STOP LNDG. ON REACHING FINAL RPTING POINT; I WAS INSTRUCTED TO PROCEED E FOR AN EXTENDED DOWNWIND LEG TO RWY 7L TO FOLLOW 3 ACFT; THE FIRST OF WHICH WAS STARTING ON THE DOWNWIND LEG INSTEAD OF THE USUAL BASE LEG ENTRY TYPICALLY ASSIGNED TO MY; OR SIMILAR; HIGH PERFORMANCE ACFT. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO FOLLOW 3 ACFT ON A DOWNWIND (THEIR ESTIMATED SPDS OF 70 KTS VERSUS MY MINIMAL SAFE PATTERN SPD OF 100 KTS; THEN CHEROKEE FOLLOWED BY 2 CESSNA TRAINERS). I EXTENDED MY ENTRY E BEFORE TURNING DOWNWIND; TELLING THE TWR CTLR I WOULD DO SO FOR SPACING. ON DOWNWIND MIDFIELD; I RESPONDED TO TWR'S QUERY RELATIVE TO TFC; INDICATING THAT I HAD CESSNA TFC AHEAD TURNING L BASE ON AN EXTENDED DOWNWIND. TWR INDICATED THAT I SHOULD FOLLOW THIS TFC; #2 TO LAND. I SLOWED TO MY MINIMUM CTLABLE AIRSPD IN THE PATTERN AND SET UP THE ACFT LNDG CONFIGN. BEING PREOCCUPIED WITH THE TFC AND RECEIVING NO FURTHER TWR INSTRUCTIONS; I FOLLOWED THE ACFT WHICH HAD BEEN NOTED AS A TOUCH-AND-GO ON FINAL WITHOUT REALIZING THAT THE FINAL APCH WAS TO THE WRONG RWY -- RWY 7R. ON SHORT FINAL; I SAW THAT THE TFC AHEAD WAS NOT A TOUCH-AND-GO AND MINUS ANY TWR COMS; I TOUCHED DOWN AT MY MINIMUM SPD AS TFC EXITED RWY AT FIRST INTXN. TWR ISSUED A GAR AFTER I WAS ON ROLLOUT!
