SMA PLT HAD A RWY INCURSION AT JXN.

Narrative

I GOT THE ATIS WHICH SAID THE ACTIVE RWY WAS RWY 24. THE WINDS BEING LIGHT; I REQUESTED RWY 32 TO DEPART SINCE OUR RTE WAS TO THE NE. THE CTLR SAID 'TAXI TO RWY 32.' FROM THE TERMINAL RAMP I TAXIED E. I HAD NO ARPT DIAGRAM WHEN I GOT NEAR THE INTXN OF RWY 32 AND THE RAMP. I SAW A TXWY; W OF RWY 32; BUT IT APPEARED TO END AT A ROW OF HANGARS; SO I CONTINUED ACROSS RWY 32 TO GET THE TXWY; E OF RWY 32; AND TAXIED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32 TO DO MY RUN-UP. AS I CROSSED RWY 32; I CHKED FOR TFC; THERE WAS NONE -- NO CONFLICT RESULTED. WHEN I CONTACTED TWR TO DEPART; HE ASKED WHERE I HAD TAXIED FROM AND I INFORMED I HAD CROSSED AN ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT CLRNC. THIS CONFUSION RESULTED IN A MISTAKE. RWY 24 WAS THE ACTIVE RWY. IT WOULD HAVE HELPED IF I HAD AN ARPT DIAGRAM; THE CTLR HAD ISSUED A CLRNC TO TAXI VIA TXWY SUCH AND SUCH. ASSUMED THAT 'TAXI TO RWY 32' MEANT I WAS CLRED TO CROSS ALL RWYS AND TXWYS TO GET THERE. I SHOULD HAVE REQUESTED A PROGRESSIVE TAXI. I WILL HOLD SHORT OF RED RWY SIGNS TO VERIFY CLRNC BEFORE XING. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE TXWY; W OF RWY 32.
