RIGHT OF WAY VIOLATION WHEN AN SMA PVT PLT TAKES THE RWY ON A TKOF ROLL WITH TFC NEAR FINAL AND ANOTHER ACFT STILL ATTEMPTING TO CLR THE ACTIVE RWY AT GLE; TX.

Narrative

I HAD PICKED UP MY AIRPLANE AFTER SOME SVC WORK WAS DONE AT A LCL REPAIR SHOP. I HAD TAXIED DOWN TO THE END OF THE RWY AND HAD PERFORMED MY RUN-UP AND WAS AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE LISTENING TO THE TFC IN THE PATTERN AND PREPARING FOR DEP. THERE WAS AN RV6 SINGLE ENG ON FINAL AND A JET ON DOWNWIND. THE RV6 HAD CALLED FOR A TOUCH AND GO. I WAITED FOR HIM TO PASS IN FRONT OF ME AND AFTER HE WAS MORE THAN A THIRD DOWN THE RWY I CHK VISUALLY FOR OTHER TFC AND SAW THE JET TURNING FROM DOWNWIND TO BASE LEG. I ANNOUNCED ON THE RADIO THAT I WAS TAXIING INTO POS FOR A S DEP. AS I GOT TO THE CTRLINE THE RV6 ANNOUNCED THAT I WAS GOING TO TAXI CLR OF THE RWY AND HAD SLOWED DOWN ON THE RWY. I KNEW THE JET WAS ON BASE PROBABLY GETTING CLOSE TO FINAL SO I ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS TO START MY TKOF RUN JUST AS I SAW VISUALLY THE RV6 TAXIING CLR OF THE ACTIVE. I KNEW THAT I WOULD BE CLBING PAST 100 FT ABOVE THE SURFACE AND THE RV6 WOULD BE WELL CLR OF THE RWY BEFORE I PASSED THE RWY EXIT THAT THE RV6 WAS USING SO THERE WAS NO PROB WITH SEPARATION; BUT I FELT THAT I MAY HAVE CROWDED THE RV6 ON THE RWY. MY OTHER CONCERN WAS THAT THERE WAS A STEARMAN ON CLOSE IN DOWNWIND THAT WAS NOT TALKING TO ANYONE AND I DID NOT KNOW IF HE HAD THE JET IN SIGHT OR NOT. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I HAD TIME TO THINK ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED. IN HINDSIGHT; I SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THE JET AND THE STEARMAN TO LAND AND SHOULD NOT HAVE COUNTED ON THE RV6 DOING A TOUCH AND GO; POSSIBLY I MISUNDERSTOOD THE RV6 AND HE HAD NOT ANNOUNCED A TOUCH AND GO. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS SOMEONE; I CANNOT REMEMBER WHETHER IT WAS THE JET OR THE RV6; WAS USING A RADIO THAT WAS ALMOST UNREADABLE. I NOW FEEL THAT IN THAT SIT AGAIN THE RIGHT THING TO DO IS TO WAIT FOR ALL TFC TO CLR AND THINGS TO SLOW DOWN. I FELT RUSHED TO GET OUT BTWN THE RV6 AND THE JET AND I SHOULD HAVE JUST SAT BACK AND ENJOYED WATCHING THE JET AND STEARMAN LAND.
