AFTER LNDG APA; A C206 PLT CROSSED AN ACTIVE RWY ENRTE TO PARKING.

Narrative

I LANDED AT ARPT APA APPROX XA00 IN VFR CONDITIONS. I WAS TOLD TO EXIT RWY 17R AND MONITOR TWR FREQ TO PARKING. I WAS PLANNING ON PARKING AT FBO TOWARDS THE S END OF RWY 17R. THERE HAD BEEN CONSTRUCTION SINCE I WAS THERE PREVIOUSLY AND I MISSED THE TXWY TO THIS FBO; BUT DID SEE ANOTHER; THAT APPEARED TO BE A NEW TXWY TO THE FBO. THIS ACTUALLY WAS AN APCH TO RWY 10/28 AT THE VERY WESTERN EDGE OF THIS RWY. THE ACTIVE RWY WAS RWY 17R ON THE ATIS AND I FELT THAT I COULD CROSS THE END OF THIS RWY WITHOUT ANY SIGNIFICANT DANGER. I WAS INFORMED; AFTER I CROSSED THE RWY; ON ROLLING TO A STOP AT THE FBO TO CONTACT THE TWR AFTER TIE DOWN. I DID CONTACT THE TWR AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I HAD CROSSED THE ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT PERMISSION AND THIS WAS AN INCURSION. I DID APOLOGIZE AND TRIED TO EXPLAIN MY CONFUSION AND THE FACT THAT I WAS WRONG. THE PERSON IN THE CTL TWR DID NOT IDENT THEMSELVES; AND DID NOT ASK ME FOR ANY FURTHER FOLLOW UP OR RPTING. I HAVE RE-REVIEWED THE INFO PUT OUT BY NASA ON RWY INCURSIONS AND WILL MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT NOT TO MAKE THIS ERROR IN THE FUTURE.
