B717 CREW FAIL TO FOLLOW DEP PROC THAT REQUIRES TURN AT 3 MI.
Narrative
SEVERAL DISTRS DURING TAXI FOR TKOF AND AN ASSUMED FAMILIARITY WITH BWI DEP PROCS CAUSED BOTH ME AND THE FO (PF) TO MISS CAREFULLY REVIEWING THE SID BEFORE; DURING AND AFTER TKOF AND DEP BRIEFING BY THE PF. ALL WOULD HAVE WORKED OUT WELL HAD THIS BEEN THE ONLY SID/RWY COMBINATION WHICH REQUIRED A MANDATORY TURN 3 MI AFTER TKOF. NEEDLESS TO SAY; WE BLISSFULLY BLASTED STRAIGHT OUT RWY HEADING; AS WE WERE COMPLACENTLY USED TO DOING EVERY OTHER DAY; AND WERE RUDELY BROUGHT BACK TO CONFUSED REALITY WHEN THE CTLR ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING. HIS MANUAL CTL OF OUR MISSED TURN SAVED INCURSION INTO WASHINGTON AIRSPACE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 584210: THE PART 121 TRIP WAS FROM BWI TO BOS. WHILE I WAS GETTING MY CLRNC FROM CLRNC DELIVERY THERE WERE SEVERAL INTERRUPTIONS IN THE COCKPIT. THE CLRNC WAS THE SWANN 3 DEP OFF OF RWY 28 AT BWI. I MISSED THE INITIAL FIX GIVEN BY CLRNC THAT WAS SWANN. I ASKED CLRNC TO REPEAT; BUT GOT NO ANSWER. AT THAT TIME A JUMPSEAT RIDER ENTERED THE COCKPIT TO SEEK PERMISSION TO RIDE TO BOS. I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE COCKPIT AND CHKED THE PLT'S CREDENTIALS. I DIDN'T CALL CLRNC DELIVERY BACK TO VERIFY THE DEP CLRNC. ON TAXI OUT OUR COMPANY CALLED US AND SAID WE HAD AN UNSCREENED BAG ON BOARD. WE DELAYED OUR DEP UNTIL WE CLRED UP THE BAG ISSUE. WHEN WE WERE READY FOR DEP TWR TOLD US WE WERE CLR TO DEPART RWY 28. WE DEPARTED RWY 28 AND STAYED ON RWY HEADING UNTIL APPROX 6-8 MI. DEP ASKED US IF WE WERE ON THE SWANN 3 DEP. WE STATED THAT WE WERE ASSIGNED RWY HEADING OFF OF RWY 28; BECAUSE WE THOUGHT THAT WAS OUR CLRNC. DEP TOLD US TO IMMEDIATELY TURN L TO 150 DEGS AND THAT WE WERE INITIALLY GIVEN THE SWANN 3. THE INTERRUPTION DURING MY RECEIVING THE CLRNC AS WELL AS THE BAG ISSUE CONTRIBUTED TO THE CLRNC DEV. WE TALKED TO BWI APCH BY LAND LINE WHEN WE REACHED BOS AND THE ISSUE WAS CLRED. NO FURTHER ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE BWI APCH ACCORDING TO THE BWI APCH SUPVR.
