A BE58P RENTED FROM AN FBO IN ICT. NORMAL PREFLT CONDUCTED THAT INCLUDED VERIFICATION OF REGISTRATION; AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE; AND FLT HR METER. MAINT INFO; SQUAWKS; OR LOGBOOK WERE NOT FOUND ON THE ACFT. THE AIRPLANE WAS FOUND TO HAVE NUMEROUS SQUAWKS DURING THE FLT. THE SQUAWKS INCLUDED: BOTH TACHOMETER INITIALLY 'HUNG UP' AT LOW RPM. RIGHT TIT INOP. R FUEL QUANTITY GAUGE STUCK AT ABOUT 1/2 TANK WITH FULL FUEL VISUALLY VERIFIED. L LOAD METER INITIALLY STUCK AT ZERO LOAD. BOTH VHF COMS INTERMITTENT STATIC AND GARBLED. PLAYED WITH JACKS TO GET OPERATING. STATIC WICK MISSING FROM L ELEVATOR. XPONDER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DATABASE EXPIRED ON GPS-530. NO GOOD PLACE TO DOCUMENT SQUAWKS OTHER THAN TELEPHONE TO FBO. FOUND OUT ON JUN/THU/03; THAT THE ACFT ANNUAL INSPECTION HAD EXPIRED ON MAY/FRI/03; AFTER FBO CALLED ANOTHER PLT FROM OUR OFFICE ADVISING HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRIP TO IOWA. ACFT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN ON THE OPEN RENTAL MARKET SINCE MAY/FRI/03 IN AN UNAIRWORTHY CONDITION. ICT FSDO ADVISED ON JUN/THU/03; OF THE SIT.
