B767-200 CREW FLEW AN ACFT THAT WAS IN STORAGE FOR 2 MONTHS. THE CREW RUSHED THE PREFLT INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD BY A FLT MGR AT THE DEST; THAT THE ACFT PAPERS WERE NOT INSTALLED.

Narrative

THIS RPT IS BEING ALSO SUBMITTED FOR XXX XXX ON JUL/TUE/03; WE FLEW ACFT X ON FLT FROM LAX TO JFK. UNKNOWN TO US; ACFT X HAD JUST COME OUT OF STORAGE. DURING COCKPIT CHKS; WE FOUND SEVERAL ITEMS MISSING (LIFE VEST; EMER MEDICAL KITS; AND AED). AFTER MAINT TECHNICIAN REPLACED THESE ITEMS; HE ADIVSED US THAT THIS ACFT WAS COMING OUT OF STORAGE. ON PUSHBACK WE RECEIVED AN EXTENSIVE MAINT DOCUMENT OF 12 PAGES. FLT TO JFK WAS UNEVENTFUL. THE NEXT DAY; A JFK FLT MGR WHO FLEW THE ACFT BACK TO LAX ON JUL/TUE; ADVISED ME THAT THIS ACFT DID NOT HAVE THE AIRWORTHINESS; REGISTRATION; AND RADIO STATION CERTIFICATES DISPLAYED ON ACFT. IN ADDITION; THIS ACFT WAS PAST DUE ON THE MAX TKOF THRUST REQUIREMENT. MAINT WAS NOTIFIED OF THESE DISCREPANCIES. COCKPIT PREPARATION SOP DOES NOT REQUIRE CREWS TO VERIFY THAT THESE DOCUMENTS ARE ON-BOARD; THEREFORE; I RECOMMEND THAT CREWS BE WARNED TO SPECIFICALLY LOOK FOR THEM WHEN OUR ACFT COME OUT OF STORAGE. ALSO; THE REQUIREMENT TO PERFORM A MAX THRUST TKOF SHOULD BE BETTER HIGHLIGHTED TO THE CREWS ON THEIR PAPERWORK.
