A PA28 PLT DISREGARDED HIS BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST; MADE THE TKOF RUN PREMATURELY; AND RAN HIS ACFT OFF THE RWY AT Y58.
Narrative
THE PLAN FOR DEP OF 2 ACFT WAS FOR THE SLOWER ACFT TO LEAVE FIRST AND MY (FASTER) ACFT WAS TO FOLLOW AND FIND THE FIRST ACFT FOR PICTURE TAKING. THE FIRST ACFT; WITH MINIMAL RUN-UP PROCS; DEPARTED QUICKLY WHILE I WAS PERFORMING A MORE COMPLETE PRE-TKOF CHK OUT. NOT WANTING TO GET TOO FAR OUT OF SIGHT; I ABANDONED MY CHKLIST AND ANNOUNCED DEP; ROLLED OUT ONTO RWY 22 AND APPLIED FULL PWR. THE ACFT WAS SLOW ACCELERATING AND; AT THE MIDPOINT OF THE 2400 FT RWY; DID NOT HAVE TKOF SPD. THE RWY WAS DOWNHILL AT THAT POINT AND THE AIRSPD WAS ACHIEVED; BUT THE PLANE DID NOT ROTATE. I CUT PWR AND APPLIED BRAKES; BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP. RATHER THAN RUN INTO A DENSE CORN FIELD; I SWERVED RIGHT INTO BEAN FIELDS. UNFORTUNATELY; THERE WAS AN OLD BARBED WIRE FENCE WITH STEEL POSTS DIVIDING 2 FIELDS. I STRUCK 3 POSTS; ONE ON EACH WING AND ONE ON THE NOSE. 3 WING SKIN SECTIONS MUST BE REPLACED AND THE PROP MUST BE REWORKED. HINDSIGHT: 1) ALL GRASS FIELDS ARE SOFT IRREGARDLESS OF MOISTURE CONDITIONS. ALWAYS USE SOFT FIELD TKOF PROCS. 2) NEVER ABORT OR SHORT CUT NORMAL FLT PLANNING OR CHKLIST PROCS.
