FLT WAS OPERATED FROM ZZZ TO PIT. WE LANDED ON RWY 32 AND WAS TOLD TO EXPEDITE TO THE END; TURN L AND CALL GND. THERE WAS A LOT OF RADIO CONGESTION AND GND TOLD US TO TAXI VIA 'ROMEO;' 'ECHO;' HOLD SHORT OF 'TANGO.' THE CORRECT CLRNC SHOULD HAVE BEEN TO TAXI 'PAPA;' ROMEO;' 'ECHO' AND SHORT OF 'TANGO.' BY THE TIME WE REALIZED THIS; WE WERE PAST TXWY 'PAPA.' WE HAD TO HAVE AN ARPT GND CREW WATCH OUR WING AS WE DID A 180 DEG TURN IN THE MAINT HANGAR AREA TO GET BACK OUT TO 'PAPA.' THE GND CREW TOLD US THE SAME PROB HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. A SIGN NOTIFYING YOU THAT YOU ARE ENTERING A HANGAR AREA IF YOU CONTINUE PAST PAPA WOULD BE HELPFUL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 591543: CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: LAST MINUTE RWY CHANGE DUE TO WX; POOR SIGNAGE AT END OF MAINT TXWY TO INFORM CREW THIS IS MAINT FACILITY; TXWY CLOSURES--NUMEROUS; AND RUSHED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ADVISED THAT AFTER EXITING RWY 32 ON TXWY N5; DISTR BY COMPLETING AFTER LNDG CHECKS; THEY MISSED TAXI RTE ON PAPA; THE FLT CREW REALIZED TOO LATE THAT THEY WERE 'SOMEWHERE THEY WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE.' THE FO ADVISED THAT THERE IS A SUFFICIENTLY HIGH BERM ON TXWY N5 AND ONE RECOGNIZES THEY HAVE GONE TOO FAR WHEN ONLY ON THE TOP OF THE BERM; AS THE LARGE MAINT RAMP AREA COMES INTO TOTAL VIEW. THE FO RECOMMENDED THAT SIGNAGE BE PLACED ON N5; W OF PAPA; STATING THAT 'YOU ARE ENTERING A MAINT RAMP AREA.' THE FO BELIEVES THIS SIGNAGE WOULD STOP SIMILAR OCCURRENCES.
