Narrative
ACFT HAD 5 MEL PLACARDS. 2 INFLUENCED TKOF PWR SETTINGS. MEL 27-04-C GND SPOILER INOP CALLED FOR MAX PWR TKOF. MEL 73-08 ART SYS INOP CALLED FOR A RESERVE THRUST TKOF WHEN MAX WAS REQUIRED. MY FIRST RESERVE THRUST TKOF. WENT TO THE OPERATING MANUAL TO ENSURE I DID IT RIGHT. NO PROCS FOR RESERVE THRUST TKOF IN THE OPERATING MANUAL VOLUME 1 OR 2 OR THE QUICK REF GUIDE. NEITHER DISPATCH NOR MAINT COULD GIVE GUIDANCE. MEL ITEM 73-07 MENTIONS HOW TO SET RESERVE THRUST. IT SAYS TO SET 64% N1 AND SHIFT PWR OF DFGS. WE DID THIS ON THE RWY PRIOR TO RELEASING BRAKES FOR THE TKOF ROLL. TO SET RESERVE ONCE 64% N1 WAS SET WE HAD TO CYCLE THE ART SWITCH FROM OFF TO AUTO. THE ART LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING RESERVE THRUST WAS COMPUTED AND THE EPR GAUGES WENT UP ACCORDINGLY. ALTHOUGH THE ART SWITCH WAS MOVED OUT OF THE PLACARDED OFF POS; THE AUTOMATIC ART SYS WAS NOT USED PER THE INTENT OF THE MEL. THERE ARE NO PROCS CLRLY STATING HOW TO COMPLY WITH SETTING RESERVE THRUST IN THE MEL OR THE OPERATING MANUAL. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND CORRECTED.
