Narrative
ON DEC/WED/03; I WAS GIVING FLT INSTRUCTION TO A STUDENT PLT AT CABLE ARPT IN UPLAND; CA. THE AREA HAD VERY FEW ACFT FLYING WHEN THE LESSON ON LNDGS STARTED BUT BECAME BUSY AS THE TIME WENT ON. WE FOUND OURSELVES IN THE PATTERN TRAILING ABOUT 1 MI BEHIND A C172 AND ANOTHER CESSNA ACFT WAS BEHIND US. WITH A FEW OTHER ACFT IN THE PATTERN; A FLT OF 5 EXPERIMENTAL RV'S RPT ENTERING THE OVERHEAD APCH FROM THE N. WHILE ON FINAL; I WAS BUSY GIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO MY STUDENT AND LOOKING FOR OTHER TFC AND I MOMENTARILY LOST VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE C172 WHEN WE WERE ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 24. WHEN WE WERE OVER THE THRESHOLD I SAW THAT THE C172 HAD LANDED AND STOPPED ON THE L EDGE OF THE RWY TO ALLOW A MULTI-ENG ACFT TO TAXI BY. I NOTED THAT THE C172 BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD TO THE TXWY; SO I CONTINUED TO INSTRUCT MY STUDENT THROUGH THE TOUCHDOWN. THE C172 WAS APPROX 2000 FT AWAY WHEN WE LANDED AND BOTH ACFT WERE ON THE RWY FOR NO MORE THAN 3 SECONDS. THE C172 WAS CLR AND MY STUDENT EXECUTED A TOUCH AND GO. A SAFETY COUNSELOR THAT WAS IN THE C172 COMMENTED ON THE RADIO THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE LANDED. UPON COMPLETION OF THE FLT LESSON; I TALKED THINGS OVER WITH MY STUDENT AND WE THOUGHT THAT ALTHOUGH OUR ACTIONS WERE SAFE AND PRESENTED NO HARM TO THE C172; THAT A GAR MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BETTER DECISION. I LATER CALLED THE SAFETY COUNSELOR ON THE PHONE TO TALK THINGS OVER WITH HIM. HE STARTED THE CONVERSATION WITH THREATENING THAT HE COULD BE VERY MEAN TO ME. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THINGS FROM MY POINT OF VIEW AND HE DID NOT ALLOW ME TO CONTINUE. I ASKED HIM AS TO WHICH FAR I HAD BROKEN AND HE SAID I COULD LOOK IT UP MYSELF. HE BECAME ANGRY; CALLED ME STUPID; AND TOLD ME HE WAS AN AIRLINE PLT WITH LOTS OF EXPERIENCE. HE DEMANDED MY FULL NAME AND I DID NOT GIVE IT TO HIM. AFTER ANOTHER VULGAR REMARK TO ME; I ENDED THE PHONE CALL. THE ENTIRE EVENT HAS BOTHERED ME AND SO I DECIDED TO RPT IT.
