B767-300 PLT QUESTIONS ACCURACY OF WT MANIFEST ON A FERRY FLT DEPARTING HNL WITH NO GALLEY CARTS.
Narrative
AFTER DEPARTING KOA ON A B757; WE DIVERTED INTO HNL DUE TO AN ENG RELATED EICAS. WHEN MAINT COULD NOT CLR THE MALFUNCTION; AN EQUIP SUBSTITUTION WAS MADE TO A B767-300. DUE TO COCKPIT CREW DUTY LIMITS; ALL EFFORTS TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED 'IN TIME' WERE MADE BY THE STATION. THE ACFT INITIALLY WAS NOT CATERED WITH ANY PROVISIONS; AND THE CAPT MADE IT CLR WE WOULD NOT DEPART WITHOUT; AT LEAST; CUPS FOR WATER. STATION PERSONNEL CAME ON AT THE LAST MIN WITH BOXES OF PROVISIONS (WE WERE VERY BUSY IN THE COCKPIT; AND NEITHER CREW MEMBER ACTUALLY WENT BACK TO SEE WHAT WAS ACTUALLY BOARDED). THE 'A' FLT ATTENDANT ANNOUNCED SHE WAS NOW SATISFIED WITH THE PROVISIONS BOARDED; AND THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. INFLT; ABOUT 2 HRS OUT OF HNL; A CREW BREAK WAS REQUESTED. THE FLT ATTENDANT INFORMED US FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT THERE WERE NO GALLEY CARTS ON BOARD. IMPROVISATION WAS REQUIRED FOR CREW BREAKS. NEITHER PLT CONSIDERED THE LACK OF GALLEY CART TO BE OF ANY REAL SIGNIFICANCE; OTHER THAN FOR SECURITY REASONS. FERRY FLTS OFTEN DEPART WITHOUT GALLEY CARTS; SO THIS CONFIGN WAS NOT UNKNOWN TO US. IF GALLEY CARTS ARE; PART OF WT AND BAL; THEN ONE QUESTIONS WHETHER OUR WT MANIFEST WAS ACCURATE? ON FERRY FLTS; IS THE WT MANIFEST ACCURATE? IF GALLEY CARTS ARE NOT PART OF THE WT AND BAL; THEN THIS RPT IS MERELY TO NOTE THE DEV FROM NORMAL SECURITY PRACTICES.
