A CESSNA 560 STANDBY BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY A CONTRACT TECHNICIAN AND CHKED OK. CARRIER LATER ADVISED THE STATIC INVERTER WAS FOUND IN THE RETURNED BATTERY PACK.

A CESSNA 560 STANDBY BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY A CONTRACT TECHNICIAN AND CHKED OK. CARRIER LATER ADVISED THE STATIC INVERTER WAS FOUND IN THE RETURNED BATTERY PACK.
Narrative
ON JAN/TUE/04; I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MAINT CTLR. ACFT X STANDBY PWR BATTERY HAD BEEN LEFT ON OVERNIGHT AND WOULD NOT TEST. THEY INFORMED ME A SERVICEABLE BATTERY WAS BEING SENT AND THEY WANTED IT INSTALLED. THEY HAD FAXED ME THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK; MAINT MANUAL; WORK ORDER; ETC. UPON RECEIVING THE BATTERY I VERIFIED THE PART NUMBER AND INSTALLED IT PER THE MAINT MANUAL. TESTING REQUIRED ONLY A PWR UP TEST OF THE STAND BY INST SYS WHICH SHOWED NO FAULTS. THE LOG ENTRIES WERE MADE AND FAXED TO MAINT CTLR FOR REVIEW. AFTER APPROVED BY THE COORDINATOR THE LOGBOOK WAS PLACED BACK IN THE ACFT. ON FEB/SUN/04; I RECEIVED A CALL FROM QUALITY CTL SUPVR. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE UNSERVICEABLE BATTERY PACK WAS RECEIVED IN THEIR BATTERY SHOP WITH THE STATIC CONVERTER STILL INSTALLED; AND THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN THE NEW BATTERY PACK. THE ACFT MADE 3 FLTS; NO PROBS WERE NOTICED BY THE FLT CREWS. THE ACFT WAS DOWN FOR SCHEDULED MAINT WHEN THE PROB WAS RPTED; THE STATIC CONVERTER WAS SHIPPED TO THE ACFT FOR INSTALLATION. CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD BE TO HAVE A NOTE IN THE MAINT MANUAL STATING TO CHK FOR STATIC CONVERTER TO BE INSTALLED BEFORE BATTERY PACK INSTALLATION. BECAUSE THE STATIC CONVERTER IS INSIDE THE BATTERY PACK; THE COVER MUST BE REMOVED TO CHK FOR ITS PRESENCE.
