Synopsis

A TURBOJET CHARTER FO RPTED THAT HE TURNED THE WRONG WAY AFTER TAKING OFF FROM TEB; WHICH THEN CAUSED HIM TO OVERSHOOT HIS ALT.

Narrative

PURPOSE OF THE FLT WAS TO FLY TO KABE(AFTER DROPPING PAX OFF AT TEB). WEATHER WAS GOOD VMC. REQUESTED VFR CLRNC AND FLT FOLLOWING TO KABE. RECEIVED SQUAWK CODE AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO REMAIN CLEAR OF CLASS B AIRSPACE. TYPE RATED FO (FAR 135) WAS FLYING THE ACFT (RPTR). WHILE TAXIING TO RWY 01; THE LCL CTLR INSTRUCTED TO MAINTAIN VFR AT OR BELOW 1400 FT AND A WESTBOUND (L) TURN WAS APPROVED. THE NOISE ABATEMENT PROC FOR THAT RWY IS A R TURN TO 040 DEGS UP TO 1500 FT; THEN A L TURN; ETC. ON DEP; I INCORRECTLY MADE A R TURN TOWARDS 040 DEGS AND WAS CORRECTED BY MY CREW MEMBER THAT A L TURN WAS APPROVED. I WAS SOMEWHAT FAZED BY MY MISTAKE AND ALLOWED THE ACFT TO REACH 1500 FT BEFORE IMMEDIATELY DSNDING TO 1400 FT. I WAS TIRED FROM A PREVIOUS DAY'S WORK AND THE DEP DELAYS FROM FLORIDA THIS DAY DUE TO SUNDAY TFC. WHILE I HEARD THE INSTRUCTION; IT WAS BRIEFED AND THE ALT ALERTER SET; I SUPPOSE I WAS SUBCONSCIOUSLY HESITANT TO MAKE THE IMMEDIATE L TURN BECAUSE OF THE USUAL NOISE ABATEMENT CONCERNS WHEN DEPARTING RWY 01; AND I SUPPOSE DUE TO MY TIREDNESS. I DID NOT DISCUSS THESE CONCERNS WITH MY CREW MEMBER. I SHOULD HAVE HAD A MORE FIRM UNDERSTANDING OF THE DEP; ESPECIALLY NEAR THE END OF THE DAY; WHEN BOTH CREW MEMBERS MAY BE SOMEWHAT TIRED.
