Synopsis

A DA900EX FLT CREW HAVE AN AIRSPD INDICATOR PROB. AFTER LNDG; THEY LEARN THAT THEY TOOK OFF WITH THE FO PITOT TUBE COVER ON.

Narrative

ON DEP OF SRQ IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE COPLT'S AIRSPD INDICATOR WAS BLANK. THE ADC REVERSION SWITCH WAS DEPRESSED RETAINING INFO (AIRSPD) FROM ADC #1. A PRECAUTIONARY LNDG WAS MADE BACK AT SRQ. AFTER LNDG; THE CREW DISCUSSED THE POSSIBILITY OF A BLOCKED PITOT TUBE OR A POSSIBLE PARTIAL ADC #2 FAILURE. A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE PITOT TUBES WAS MADE AND NO BLOCKAGES WERE SEEN AT THIS TIME. ANOTHER DEP WAS MADE FROM SRQ WITH THE COPLT'S PFD IN ADC #2 REVERSION TO KEEP AIRSPD INFO. AFTER THIS DEP AN AIL FEEL MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE MASTER CAUTION PANEL. CREW MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LNDG AT ZZZ (A MAINT FACILITY) AND AFTER ARR IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A PITOT COVER WAS COVERING THE COPLT'S PITOT TUBE. THE PITOT TUBE COVER WAS DIFFICULT TO SEE BECAUSE IT HAD PAINT CHIPPED AWAY AND WAS THE SAME COLOR AS THE PITOT TUBE. THE FLAG WAS ALSO MISSING FROM THE PITOT TUBE COVER. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS ARE THE PITOT COVERS ARE BEING REPAINTED AND NEW FLAGS REATTACHED. AT NO POINT WAS SAFETY EVER IN QUESTION DURING THE FLT.
