Narrative

NASSAU BAHAMAS (MYNN) RWY INCURSION DURING TAXI FROM TERMINAL TO THE ACTIVE RWY. TAXI INSTRUCTIONS READ: TAXI TO RWY 32 VIA TXWY H AND B; HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32 ON TXWY B. WHILE MOVING ON TXWY H; I PASSED TXWY B AND THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 27.THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 27 WAS HARD TO IDENTIFY. IT APPEARED WASHED OUT AND VERY BLEACHED. THERE WAS NO CONFLICTING TRAFFIC! CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR ADMITS HIS ERRORS PASSING THE ASSIGNED TXWY 'B' AND THE CROSSING OF THE HOLD LINE FOR RWY 27. HE OFFERED SEVERAL MITIGATING EVENTS THAT LEAD UP TO THE INCURSION. THE INITIAL TAXI CLRNC FROM GND CTL WAS FOR RWY 14 WITH SUBSEQUENT TAXI INSTRUCTIONS THAT COULD ONLY APPLY TO RWY 32. THE CREW HAD TO CONFIRM THIS. IN ADDITION; THE CTLR HAD A HEAVY 'LOCAL' ACCENT. AFTER GETTING THINGS SORTED OUT; THE FO ASKED THE CAPT ABOUT THE RWY LENGTH REMAINING FOR AN INTXN TKOF AT RWY 32. THE PIC DID NOT ADVISE THE FO TO CHECK THE DOCUMENTS; INSTEAD HE LOOKED IT UP AND IN DOING SO PASSED TXWY BRAVO. SHORTLY AFTER THAT HE NOTED THE FADED HOLD LINE FOR RWY 27 PASSING BY. THE CREW HAD BRIEFED THE TAXI ALTHOUGH THEY WERE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. CREW WAS 'OFF BALANCE' DUE TO THE NON STANDARD PHRASEOLOGY USED BY THIS CTLR. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE CAPT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE HOLD LINE AND BELIEVES THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT IT. THE SALTY AIR HAS DONE A VERY GOOD JOB BLEACHING IT OUT. RPTR HAD NOT INFORMED HIS COMPANY NOR THE FAA ABOUT THIS RWY 27 HOLD LINE PROB.
