Narrative
AFTER LNDG THE FO TOLD OPS WE WERE ON THE GND; CONFIRM GATE NUMBER AND THEY SAID YES AND TO SHUT #1 ENG DOWN AND WAIT FOR GND PWR. AS CAPT; I SAID; ASK IF THEY KNOW THAT'S THE L AND THEY CONFIRMED AND SAID IT WAS A NEW PROC FOR THE LAST WK OR COUPLE OF WKS. I SAID I NEED CONFIRMATION FROM THE RAMP SUPVR THAT EVERYONE OUT THERE KNOWS ABOUT THE WRONG/INCORRECT ENG BEING SHUT DOWN BECAUSE THIS IS HOW PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN HURT IN THE PAST AND THEN THEY VERIFIED; YES EVERYONE KNEW. I TOLD THE FO TO KEEP LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW AND IF ANYONE STARTED COMING TOWARD THE ENG TO SHUT IT DOWN IMMEDIATELY. MAYBE 20 SECONDS AFTER WE STOPPED THE GUY ON A BIG LOADER CROSSED THE REDLINE HE WAS BEHIND AND STARTED ACCELERATING TOWARD THE FRONT CARGO DOOR AND AS I SAW IT TOO AND YELLED TWICE SHUT IT DOWN THE FO WAS SHUTTING THE ENG DOWN. I DEMANDED A SUPVR COME TO THE COCKPIT AND ONE TO THE RAMP AS I COULD NOT LEAVE BECAUSE OF CUSTOMS. THE RAMP SUPVR SAID HE WAS ONLY REPOSITIONING BUT THE FO AND I AGREED WE WERE LOOKING AT THE FRONT OF HIS FACE AND HIS EYES WERE FIXED ON THE CARGO DOOR. #1 QUESTION IS WHY DOESN'T THE STATION TELL FLT OPS WHEN THEY CHANGE A PROC? WHY DID I FALL INTO THEIR TRAP OF DOING WHAT THEY ASKED? I BELIEVE IT WAS BECAUSE I THOUGHT EVERYONE ELSE HAD BEEN DOING IT FOR WKS LIKE THEY TOLD ME.
