Synopsis

A B737-300 INCURRED FUSELAGE DAMAGE WHEN A GOLF CART WAS MOVED THAT WAS ATTACHED TO A PWR UNIT WORK STAND POSITIONED UNDER THE ACFT.

Narrative

ACFT ARRIVED APPROX XA30 WITH 2 MEL'S -- THE #2 ENG NEEDLE ANTI-ICE INOP AND APU WILL NOT START. AT XB30 MYSELF AND ANOTHER MECH WERE ASKED TO WORK ON THE ACFT. WE CHANGED THE #2 NACELLE ANTI-ICE VALVE; IN ORDER TO OPS CHK IT WE NEEDED TO REPAIR THE APU. THE OTHER MECH WENT AND GOT THE APU MAINT PLATFORM AND TOWED IT TO THE BACK OF THE ACFT; LEAVING THE PLATFORM ATTACHED TO THE GOLF CART. A THIRD MECH ARRIVED TO HELP US. WE CHANGED THE FUEL CTL; WHICH FIXED THE APU. WE WENT BACK TO THE #2 ENG MEL AND STARTED THE ENG TO OPS CHK THE ANTI-ICE VALVE; WHICH OPS CHKED GOOD. I SHUT DOWN THE APU AND RESTARTED IT 3 TIMES TO MAKE SURE IT WAS FIXED. WE WENT BACK TO THE APU AND INSTALLED THE BUCKET; CLEANED UP THE MAINT PLATFORM AND CLOSED UP THE APU. THE THIRD MECH WENT TO PUT HIS TOOLS AWAY; THE SECOND MECH WENT TO GET THE LOGBOOK AND ALL THE TAGS. HE ASKED ME IF I WOULD TAKE THE MAINT PLATFORM BACK TO ITS PARKING SPOT. NOT REALIZING THAT THE PLATFORM WAS STILL ATTACHED TO THE GOLF CART; I STARTED MOVING THE GOLF CART; WHICH PULLED THE APU MAINT PLATFORM INTO THE BACK OF ACFT FUSELAGE CAUSING DAMAGE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO MY LEAD AND TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED.
