Narrative
PIC CHKED ASOS FOR FIELD CONDITIONS; STARTED ENG; TAXIED TO RUN-UP FOR RWY 33. WINDS VARIABLE AND LIGHT; VISIBILITY OVER 10 MI; CEILING CLR BELOW 12000 FT MSL. AT RUN-UP; PIC NOTED NO ADVERSE CONDITIONS; LEANED ENG FOR DENSITY ALT. ENG SEEMED TO GENERATE ACCEPTABLE PWR. PIC POSITIONED ACFT AT END OF RWY 33; AND ENGAGED FULL THROTTLE FOR TKOF. TKOF ROLL PROCEEDED WITHOUT INCIDENT; AND ACFT ROTATED AT APPROX 65 MPH. ACFT PROCEEDED IN CLB TO APPROX 50 FT AGL; WHEN ENG SUDDENLY AND INEXPLICABLY REDUCED PWR GENERATION WHILE PIC HAD THROTTLE IN FULL PWR POS. PIC OBSERVED AIRSPD DECREASING BELOW 60 MPH; LOWERED NOSE TO MAINTAIN FLYING SPD AND COMMENCED LNDG PROC. PIC MANEUVERED ACFT TO INITIAL CONTACT WITH LAND AT END OF RWY 33; THEN CONTINUED ON RUN-OUT AREA BEYOND END OF RWY 33 ON LOOSE DIRT; SOFTENED BY RECENT RAIN. ACFT DECELERATED FOR APPROX 150 YARDS. PIC TURNED ACFT TO L TO AVOID STEEP DROP-OFF OF TERRAIN. AFTER TURN COMPLETED; ACFT STOPPED IN NOSE DOWN POS AFTER NOSE GEAR BROKE OFF. PIC OPENED CANOPY. PAX DEPARTED ACFT WHILE PIC SHUT OFF MASTER SWITCH AND TURNED GAS POS TO OFF; THEN PIC DEPARTED ACFT. NO INJURIES SUSTAINED BY PIC OR ANY PAX. DAMAGE TO ACFT: BENT PROP (2 BLADE); NOSEWHEEL BROKEN OFF; FORK BROKEN; SPINNER DEFORMED; NOSE BOWL DAMAGED; LOWER COWLING DAMAGED; MINOR WRINKLE IN L WING AT LEADING EDGE AND ON LOWER EDGE OF WING; APPROX 24 INCHES INBOARD FROM TIP TANK. NO DAMAGE TO TIP TANKS; AND NO FLUIDS LEAKED FROM ACFT. NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE OBSERVED. PREVENTIVE MEASURES TO REDUCE RISK OF INCIDENT IN FUTURE: ACFT DAMAGE INCURRED AS CONSEQUENCE OF ACFT DEPARTING PAVED RWY. PIC SHOULD GENERATE ACFT PERFORMANCE CHARTS FOR THIS ACFT AND CALCULATE COMPENSATION FACTORS FOR DENSITY ALT AND WT LOADS. PIC SHOULD CALCULATE MAX ACCEPTABLE TKOF DISTANCES TO DETERMINE WHEN TO ABORT ANY TKOF WITHIN DISTANCE TO REMAIN ON RWY SURFACE. PIC MUST ASSUME EVERY TKOF MAY REQUIRE AN ABORT AND PREPARE TO ABORT IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT DELAY ON EVERY TKOF PROC. PIC MUST IDENT CAUSE OF PWR LOSS ON TKOF AND PERFORM ALL NECESSARY CORRECTIONS.
